Finally got my sh*t together and put the front springs on. Now I know what I staved them off for so long. Holy crap those things are a pain in the *ss. Had to rent that stupid compressor tool, and the damn things wouldn't fit around the spring in the pocket, so I put one inside the spring and did it that way and fished it out through the shock hole. Not gonna lie, it was precarious. I don't recommend it. But, it did raise it up a good inch or so. I went with moog replacement '87 GN springs all around, or at least what Summit said were GN replacement springs. Fronts are 5606, forget what rears are. Also installed new end links because I kinda had to. I've never had an old car where they came apart without breaking. reciprocating saw makes short work of them.
Before Springs and Shocks. Had about a hand's width of clearance from the driver's side exhaust under the cross member. More than 2 people car would scrape over bumps.
Rear Springs and Shocks, stock front springs with new shocks, 15x7 225/70 t type wheels/ Eagle STs. Gained about 2-2.5 inches over the bald 195s I had before, then at least another inch from the springs themselves.
New springs and shocks all 4 corners, still reppin the ST's. They are really decent for their age condition wise, but I gotta get rid of them. I don't drive the car much with them on it, just a block or two when I need something from the gas station and don't want to drive the Saturn. They do good burnouts.
