That is the throttle cable and it usually fits over a pin that sticks out where it was bolted and then has a clip to retain it. The cable end has a plastic bushing in the eye but yours is missing. Probably dry rotted and crumbled away. That's what happened to mine. He had it attached in the right place just not the normal set up, which if it works shouldn't be a problem

ur running a little hot!!!!

Lol. Yeah no kidding. No I got a set of after market gauges in the car. So the temp and oil gauges in the cluster, are just dummy gauges now. They do what ever they want lol.

(actually done on monday):
picked up a new battery, and got the Chief fired up and did some adjustments to the carb I rebuilt on saturday, then pulled it outside to water test the roof seals... big failure on the leaks, but got the carb pretty well nailed.... roof leaks took several attempts, but are no longer leaking, so moved on to new front shocks that had been sitting around for about 8 months now, then installed a jeep steering shaft that I've had in the trunk for a year now.... huge world of difference!

now I can start putting the interior back together, along with the un-cut dash harness I picked up off fleabay, and the dash I picked up from slowpoke!👍

Looked away from my car to see the back side of a particularly nasty little thunderstorm we got this evening.

Saturday (yesterday), performed this engine's first 3,000 mile oil change... 199.5 miles late. AC Delco PF61 filter (been using the bosch 3423, curious to see if there is a pressure difference between the two), Valvoline VR1 10w30. I do need to order an oil pump shim kit, to get the proper clearance. The 10psi i get in gear (550-600rpm) is fine enough, but I'd like to see about double that. In park it's fine (800rpm) at 25, rises like a tach to 50psi. I could make it more with the adjustable regulator, but I rarely even get it to 5k and it's 50psi at 5, so it's fine enough where it is. Today (sunday) going to take my T Type wheels and have the 235/60/15 cobras mounted and balanced. The car has always needed an alignment, but recently I've been noticing some weird cupping on the passenger front tire, only on the outer edge. Driver's is fine. Oh, also I'm finally gonna fix my car's floppy steering wheel. That thing's been driving me insane for about... 4 years and some change ago.

Are you getting it all tuned up to get your butt kicked by a six cylinder Monte?

Slowpoke already knows, so shhhhh!😗

Washed it on Friday afternoon. Washing the car after a massive undertaking is acceptance of project success.

Next up is ordering and swapping in some 5664 springs.
