Have been driving around all day with the laptop hooked up to the car to make the fuel maps a little better. Must have been doing pretty well, as it didn't say "DANGER TO MANIFOLD!" a single time.

Used the 70 degree weather to fire up my redneck paint booth, and rattle can some brackets to make them disappear once installed.

Installed 2 new lifters. The old intake lifter retaining clip pop out and since they are 1990(ish) vintage I ordered both intake and exhaust so they would match. The intake and valve covers were really grimy so while I had the intake and valve covers off I went ahead and cleaned them up. I used WD 40, my Dremel and a wire wheel to get the burnt on oil and gas. Then hot soapy water. It turned out really nice. The valve covers were very resistant. I used aluminum wheel cleaner and it got only the newest not baked on stuff clean. Then I did the WD40 and wire wheel a gain. I could tell a huge difference but they still had a lot of spots, splotches and baked on grime. I used 1000 grit sandpaper and it got nearly all of the spots and baked on grime off. Some Mothers aluminum polish got rid of the sand paper swirls and brought out a shine. It doesn't look new but it looks very good. The 1st pic shows the wire brush on the left and 1000 grit on the right. 2nd pic has a small wire brush area on the right. 3rd pic shows wire wheel on right.
