I wanted to brighten up my bottom lights, so I added some foil tape and did improve drastically... not ready to buy new ones

A short (pun intended) electrical lesson.
You do not have a short. Short circuits will blow a fuse, blow sparks, or melt wiring and catch fire. Think of a short circuit as the electricity taking a short cut back to the battery, instead of to it's intended destination.
What you have is a bad connection, and/or a bad ground. That is known as an open circuit, where the electricity cannot reach it's destination. It is like having the wire cut, or the switch turned off.
A closed circuit, is like a switch turned on, where the electricity flows safely to where it is supposed to go.
🙂
Like I said Electrical is not my Forte, but I will pass this diagnosis along when I take to a mechanic on Monday. Thanks for the heads up 👍 .

Got everything installed this morning and went got a little cruise. Alternator charges as it’s supposed to, sitting nicely around 14.4 at idle with the radio on. I’m good with that.

My gage doesn’t seem to read right, I think there’s a bad ground somewhere because I’m not getting my door locks some time either. I read the voltage at the battery with my multimeter though to confirm all is good. This will do for now.

Went to the in-laws to visit the body to see what I need to do to bring it up to the house. Found out I need the section that goes under the back seat as I found the passenger rear outboard seatbelt mount plate on the ground with NO floor sheet metal to be found from that area. So I'll have to get ready to look around for that section. On a positive note, looks like I'll just need lower rear quarter patches just to get the leading edge patched.

Outside at 700 this morning, not going to let the rain stop me from finishing the seat install.

Installed 10 gauge wiring for the driver seat. I used crimp connectors, shrink tubing, and tucked it all in like a factory job.

Put in a junction block behind the kickpanel, then ran more 10 gauge through the firewall and tucked it into the wiring loom.

Connected directly to the battery post side of the junction block to the ammeter. Will get a fuse inline soon.

I like how it looks, and how it feels.

It feels like it sits just a tiny bit higher, but my head doesn't seem to rub on the headliner. I will be looking forward to driving it to work this coming week.

When I was torquing the wheels a month or so ago I notice some movement on the rear end when I was torquing the right rear wheel. I cut the frame in the area of the nut for the lower control arm and when I removed the nut the hole min the frame was sightly elongated. I took a piece of 3/8" metal to use to solve the problem with the hole in the frame. Thanks to the plasma cutter it same me time and energy. I opened a hole in the doubler and installed the nut to hold it in place while I welded it to the frame. I would have to drop the exhaust to get the control arm out and I'm lazy so I put some healthy tack welds on the double so I would not damage the control arm bushing. Then I made a plate out of 14 gauge t0 fix the opening I made, plasma cutter came in hand again. There was some questionable metal in the frame in that area so I removed more of the frame than I actually needed to for the hole repair. I tried to cleam the frame to use the mig cause the stick welder was stuck behind some equipment and like I said I am lazy. The welding came out sh!tty but I am a decent grinder so it won't look too bad....I only had my cell to take pictures and these are the only 2 that are postable...

Either way I still have no headlights. After doing alittle shake and Snug on one of the running/turn signal lights It came back on but the one on the other side went off. (These are the Yellow/Orange lights one on either side of the Grille that I speak of. The Lights on the side of the Headlights work fine). Definitely a Short in the Wiring somewhere, and Electrical is not my Forte.
Like I said Electrical is not my Forte, but I will pass this diagnosis along when I take to a mechanic on Monday. Thanks for the heads up 👍 .

Quick tip: the connections are likely corroded/have a film on them. Pull the connectors, wire brush the terminals, put a little regular grease inside the connector cavities, and reconnect. The grease is conductive, and will help prevent problems down the line. Since you can't really clean the terminals inside the connectors, you might have to rock them/disconnect-reconnect a few times to get good contact.

This is something you can do, no need to pay a shop an hourly rate for this.
