What Did You Do To Your G-Body Today? [2020]

Didn't do much this weekend to the Caballero. I compared the pulleys and bracketry of my '79 El Camino's AC mounts to what I currently have/don't have for the '78 Caballero. I still need to change crankshaft, water pump, and power steering pump pulleys. The crankshaft will need a 3 belt pulley, the water and power steering pumps will each need 2 belt pulleys. I also am going to need one more bracket part that fits between the power steering pump bracket and the AC compressor front mount plate. Also, still looking for the small tube that fits on the airbox and cools the blower motor, rubber mounting cushions for the condenser, and the refrigerant hose from the airbox going back to the compressor.

Can anyone tell me what/why the difference in long/short water pumps. Does it have anything to do with whether the car was fitted with AC or not? Will I need to add that to my list also?

Here's a visual on the difference

Shouldn't be any big issue on if the pump was spec for A/C or not with most remans/aftermarket OE replacement pumps.

I would have to say that I have long water pumps on both of my gbody rigs. That short one looks weird, like some kind of alien water pump.
Thank you pagrunt.

I might be off onthe year but I'm thinking '69 was the first year for the long with only Vettes using the short up th '82. All years of our generation will have the long pump.

Pretty productive afternoon despite rain. Installed astro steering shaft, dropped the tiny screw, screamed a little, found it (thanks for painting it blue ostrich lol) and then installed a new throttle cable and front ebrake cable. Whoever thought up them weird locks those have should be shot. Also installed a new ground strap.
Throttle cable is #CA8474. After slight cable bracket bending it fits like a glove. So that's a good replacement for you 3.8/buick 350 folk. All 3 of us.

Finally got the foam backer cleaned off. Repair time tomorrow. I am also going to try and remove the windshield tomorrow as well. May as well check if the leak in rain is a bad urethane job or something much worse before I start any body work on the rotten rockers. Here's hoping its the urethane...

Might be as simple as a clogged drain at the bottom front of the airbox.
