Cleaned and painted MC SS steering box I pulled at the junkyard about 22 years(?) ago. Cleaned up Jeep Grand Cherokee steering shaft. Removed old steering box and pump. The way I see it I assume i have to reorient my steering wheel 90 degrees for GC shaft to line up? View attachment 140574

my post was hijacked....

I finally installed the driver side door jamb switch. The wiring fought me awhile back so I pushed it to the side of my brain.
Anyways, backed the car out, got switch and led dome light installed, lens cover on and done. Pretty dang bright, especially in the dark and with the map lights on!!!

Scratching my head...

I installed a new fuel pump and filter on the wagon (350SBC). After fighting with keeping the pushrod up while I got the pump in, everything else was no drama. I had no idea what the engine came out of since it came with the car, but with a passenger side oil dipstick, I figured early 80s. I ordered a pump for an 82 Truck 350. It came with a return port even though I don't need it. No biggie, I just blocked it off.

After installing the pump and filter, and firing it up to find no leaks, I went out for a spirited test drive. The car pulled hard and smooth. Feeling successful, I pulled the car back into my house garage and moved on to other things.

An hour later as I was walking through the house garage I could smell gas. Looking underneath, I could see a steady drip coming from the hardline connection at the pump. So I immediately pulled it back to the shop and placed a drain pan underneath. It didn't drip any more. I kept checking it every 10-15 minutes. Nothing....

Overnight.... nothing.....

The next day, nothing... so I went out for another spirited test drive and brought it back and still no leak.

I know from experience that stuff like this doesn't fix itself. So I'm still left wondering WTF? Haven't checked it today yet.

to help keep the pushrod in place I use light greace or vacaline on the pushrod to help keep it in place......with the other problem I have some of them but after few sessions on the couch they went away...😯

I only learned this about 2-1/2 years ago. There is a bolt on the front side of the engine that you can tighten like a set screw to hold the fuel pump drive rod up. Actually it might be a short bolt you must remove before inserting a longer bolt to hold the rod.

These are all great comments. While I struggled with the pushrod for a bit. I got past that. My issue is the steady fuel leak that appeared out of nowhere and then hasn't appeared since. :blam:
