Very cool, man, very cool- I dig the valve covers. All of your hard work will be worth it when it fires up.

Those were at a swap meet for peanuts because they looked pretty far gone, but wire and nylon wheels brought them back and one day when I had nothing else I could do, I sprayed them black flat engine paint and went back with with glossy red engine paint and about a whole roll of making tape and a couple hours later they were done. We'll see if the W-31 can last in under hood heat and finally I clear coated them. The colors were to pay tribute to Olds racing in IMSA, not NASCAR!

Looked at it sitting in the garage. Going over just how much more work there is to do on it. Had feelings of regret for buying it and contemplated giving up on the project...

Probably won't just because I'm stubborn and have already sunk a ton of time and a fair bit of money into it...but still....

Have had the same experience. Started to, but kept it. Just keep working on it as time and ambition allows. And money always a major factor

I hope you don't give up on it, but I think most of us can understand the feelings. There is a tipping point for me, when it starts to look better, and the old and sometimes rusty or broken parts disappear/ When mine finally reaches the stage when I can start it and even put it in gear, I can see the light at the end, My current one has been exceptionally stubborn, so even with new parts still does not take that step forward. But I take long breaks from the engine compartment to do other things. The interior was not a part of the original project, but I got a deal on buckets and so then the door panels, carpet and headliner were replaced and now the interior is much nicer. The CD now works, a new heater core and I sealed the floor. The wheels are off the floor and I have much to do to get it safely on the road but I did things that would ultimately need doing while the stubborn engine problems plague me, It has a new master cylinder and all new lines and fluid. I replaced the brake cylinders and all rubber lines. I got the carb rebuilt, all things I would have eventually had to do. Mne started off as a 3 month project of engine swapping, and has evolved into an almost complete restoration, that hasn't cost me more than the value of the car, but has taken over 5 years because of the long pauses. There are times, such as now when I want to walk away, but I will not sell it until it runs. I would lose some money, but like you, I am stubborn and giving up is too much to handle. I literally have thousands of hours, some of them wasted, and thousands of dollars and I selfishly want to be the first to drive it, better than new because the suspension and body mounts are better than in 1980. I don't know how long I will keep it. Neither of my grown sons has ever shown any interest in my cars, but maybe the El Camino can be my hearse, and finally give me respect for bringing it back to life

It’s true time and money for this love affair we all have with our g bodies, I finally got to spend a day in the garage yesterday rebuilding the doors and removing the old skins for some nos ones I have. Can’t believe how long it’s taking me and how much longer it will be… paint guy stopped by and said yeah about 10-12 grand for the paint job and that beat the 15 grand price from the other guy..so back to work I go.

Another weekend of adventure, tried to get the transmission line to stop leaking. Got a replacement fitting from the transmission builder, tried to tighten it one more time before swapping to the other fitting without success. So change over to the new fitting and it leaked worse and also from the line itself now, so continue to mess with it. Decide that the nut may be off shape and causing a leak so run to the store to get a new line and bend it up. Install that and it still leaks, we were about to hit the roof with anger. My buddy had a transmission sitting form what he pulled from his Camaro when he swapped over to a stick. So we take that fitting off and try it, it seems slightly different but for some reason that stopped the leaking so we called it good enough after a very long adventure

The one thing about Amazon that has turned me off is what they have become. I've watched it go from when it was 2 days to your door, into 2 days processing time, to it's whatever now.

The feedback though if you pay close attention, you won't see anymore negative feedback. I ordered one thing a couple years ago from a "vendor", they sent me the wrong item. I made a claim, I was able to return it and get another which ended up being the wrong one also. It literally took 3 or 4 iterations for them to finally send the correct one. Left a feedback explaining that and Amazon wiped out my feedback and put their positive one saying they took care of it and everything is fine..🙄

If vendors have negative feedback people won't buy from them Amazon doesn't get their cut, so everything is now censored all happy and stuff, just for the money.

Garbage.

That's odd. When I order something that shows that it'll be delivered in 1 or 2 days, it's delivered in 1 or 2 days. I think I could compile enough data from 5 women that would total over 5,000 orders in a year from the date they ordered something to the delivery date would be over 90% in 48 hours.
