look for 3m window weld, for the bolt in glass i go with the roll that's a ribbon form not in the chalking tube.thats just me I make a mess with it.dont go to big on the diameter either.i usually have the heat gun on hand to make it much more pliable when reinstalling the glass.
Found it online - a roll of 1/4' bead ? Does this stay pliable and can it be removed? Or does it turn extremely strong? Asking, because we'll probably pull the widows back out when it gets the final paint.look for 3m window weld, for the bolt in glass i go with the roll that's a ribbon form not in the chalking tube.thats just me I make a mess with it.dont go to big on the diameter either.i usually have the heat gun on hand to make it much more pliable when reinstalling the glass.
Dug out the '81 Fisher manual & it calls for 1/4" (6mm) bead of butyl or equivalent around the perimeter of glass inboard of the retaining studs. No product or p/n listed. But to ensure it all seats they list tightening the retaining nuts to 30 to 40 in-lbs (3.2 to 4.6 Nm). I do remember the original stuff stuck to everything when I pulled my windows.Found it online - a roll of 1/4' bead ? Does this stay pliable and can it be removed? Or does it turn extremely strong? You would have to cut the window back out and spend some serious time cleaning the fresh tar off the window frame. (It is easy to remove when it is old and dried out a real beast when it is fresh.) Best to paint the area before you put in the glass or use something else for a temporary install.Found it online - a roll of 1/4' bead ? Does this stay pliable and can it be removed?
