What did you do to your G-Body today 2024

I opened a door for the first time since 1999.

Something here has 30-something thousand miles on it and saw its first daylight in over 25 years... well, at least a few square inches of it did anyways.

Looks like you need more crap in there.

Washed it. I have a coolant consumption problem. I haven't pulled the plugs yet, but it doesn't smoke, coolant isn't oily, transmission isn't watery, oil isn't milky, it doesn't leave puddles, heater core I just replaced and isn't leaking, idk what's going on.

Perplexing indeed.

Started cleaning up the garage a little bit. There is still so many boxes and crap thrown around from the move. I really want to work on getting the welder wired up and station set up.
Then went on to work on the body bushings. Got the driver side done. That #3 bushing was a pain in the *ss. Also painted the bumper brackets and drive shaft loop.

When was the last time the intake manifold was checked? I had a similar scenario (coolant missing) but no tell-tale signs when investigating just like what you've done. When the engine seized & I had to tear it down to rebuild I was looking for that smoking gun thinking head gasket. But what I found was intake gasket/s that were failing @ the coolant passages (BBC). Apparently water was siphoning off @ a slow enough rate that nothing stood out visually.

The intake is the only other thing I could think of. It's my daily right now so it's not too concerning but once winter hits i might pull the intake and check it out. Its an old casting TA intake from 1993, and for all I know could be warped.

I seem to recall that there used to be a dye you could pour directly into the radiator. After that you drove around for long enough that the coolant would get warm and the t-stat would open. When you came back to the garage and shut the engine down, you could then use a UV light to examine the engine to see if there were any places where a failing gasket was allowing coolant to escape.

Sounds like a plan

Cleaned the 39 years of gunk off the factory driveshaft loop I neglected to put back on and painted it. No one but me and the people on the long side of the railroad tracks on Broadway will see it, but it's nice to clean stuff up.
I've got a myriad of brackets and trinkets I'm going to be cleaning up and trying to sell to drum up a bit of extra baby money.
