I have been putting in 3-5 hrs a night pretty consistently in the last month getting my layout ready for the big display competition this weekend. Typically I build half a dozen items worth $1500-3000 for sale but decided to bring a layout this year and not have stuff for sale. I am kinda keeping it a secret but I don't think there are many scale farm collectors or displayers here so I'm not blowing my cover :p

It's a 4x8 sheet of 2" pink foam carved to shape and painted black. Glued sifted dirt and applied the grass with not kidding a powdercoating gun.

Pretty much everything is scratch built from 3d print or styrene plastic. The scenery was a big help from a friend of mine. Replicates a mid 80's North Dakota barley harvest. I spent way too much time building a junky looking trailer house with flamingos in the yard.

So now that this is done I can get to my wagon engine swap finally :) If I win I get a trophy and a bragging rights. Woop!

I spent the day moving stuff out of my dad's shop to make room for an impending project. Should hit the Prison Planet thread around Thanksgiving.

Aquired another rig. It's a 1969 GMC C20 (2500). 396, auto trans, power steering, A/C, power brakes, triple fuel tanks, and it's all intact. Runs and drives but the 16.5s are dry rotted.

I purchased a (new to me) 2013 GMC Sierra back in the spring. It came with nice 20" wheels and tires, (275-55-20) great for clean dry pavement and shiny too!
Pennsylvania loves to salt the roads in winter and that is hell on fancy wheels, so, I searched Craigslist for a set of winter beaters and came up with a decent set of 18's
I also located a really nice set of Cooper Discoverer at3's (255-70-18). I mounted/balanced them up Wednesday night and installed them on the truck Thursday evening. The installed heights of the two different tires are almost identical ( 31.91 vs 32.05) so they don't even affect the speedometer. I also replaced the dead blower motor resistor in my 03 Silverado . Life is pretty good
