Ford Focus Part III
For those that don't recall what I was starting with, it looked like this (not the actual car, but same problem with the foam vents disintegrating ). 2012 Ford Focus with 3,367 miles:
Finally got my mesh in the mail. Cleaned all the old foam stuff off of the rear deck panel where the old crap was. It's like the foam backing on headliner material, without the cloth part. Man was that stuff junk. Finally peeled away all the stuff that was initially glued on it and then I put a few dabs of 3M weatherstrip adhesive in basically the same spots. Mesh took to it like a duck to water. Came out pretty good.

Now that you can see through the mesh, the white padding insulator under the deck cover can be seen. So I borrowed some black fabric spray from the wife's hobby kit and spritzed the back edge where at least it would be sorta dark underneath the mesh. Shhhh! She has no idea. 🙂
And then, the finished install (yeah, she was a cat person) -
Man, this car is DIRTY!!!!!!!!! I was looking at the taillights and how dirt and other crud build up along the edges of the lamps. For over the last 6 months the car's been pretty much sitting. The trunklid seal and back window was full of trash and dirt and leaves...ugh. If it weren't my late mother in law's car, I'd have probably already jammed a rag in the filler spout, lit it, and ran away. But I know she'd be happy I'm cleaning it up.
Before...….
After......
Anyway, this car was just going to get a little washing action, but now, I think I'll go ahead and detail it to a little better level. Not to showroom status, but at least start with everything visible cleaned.
Oh, in case you weren't aware, the Ford Focus is a CHEAPLY made car. Really. The way everything is held together with snap clips, push pins and wing nuts. I'd hate to get hit with something big in this car.
