Finished my skid steer. Put a block heater in, got the quick attach pins freed up, cleaned it up, and brought it home.

I bought new brake pads and rotors for my Buick LaCrosse from RockAuto (thanks to RA for the discount code!). Initially I was only going to get the fronts, but I haven't looked at the back ones and it wasn't much more expensive to get both. I went with Raybestos R-Line for everything. Less than $125 shipped.

This Cop Vic has turned into a terrible case of the "while I'm at its".....

I engineered a spring loaded mechanism to pop the hood higher when pulling the release. The bump stops were already adjusted in the right positions yet I had to pry the hood up just to get to the safety catch.

Secured the headlights better since they were rattling around. P.O. didn't put them back right when the bulbs were changed.

Installed the bad air bag sensor in the front. One of the bolts snapped and I had to yank the grill in order to drill the broken bolt out.

Before putting the top of the radiator cover back on, it was cracked so I secured that back into shape.

Drained the coolant and found that the engine oil cooler is leaking (common problem) and was planning just to bypass it by running the oil lines together with a male barbed fitting. But then the hoses were looking pretty suspect. A replacement cooler is around $100. The hoses are around $25 a pair. But for $96 I ordered a new oil filter adapter WITHOUT provisions for the oil cooler. So I'll be replacing that. There are four bolts holding it on. I can only physically see one. Not looking too fun.

Replaced the heater hoses and will put the new radiator hoses on once I change the oil filter adapter as the coolant runs through it as well and the lower radiator hose connects to it.

Went to change the serpentine belt and the spring loaded tensioner has no tension. It was stuck in the position holding the belt in place. But it wasn't doing anything to keep the belt tight. I'm surprised the belt stayed on when I saw the higher side of 105 mph on the way home with it. Picking up a replacement today.

I hand mounted (as I don't have a tire machine) a decent used tire on another Cop rim to use as a spare. It went on without too much drama but it is the first "low profile" tire I've ever hand mounted. I'm used to doing old school 15" with a 70 or taller sidewall or Hoosier circle track racing tires that have a lot of give even when new. I even got the bead to set pretty easily. But I cannot keep it from leaking in one spot no matter what I do. So I'm going to end up taking it to the Mom and Pop tire shop down the street anyway.

I cleaned up a few coin-sized surface rust spots on the lower areas of the body. I'll have Jr. hit those with some touch up paint when he paints this spare tire rim all at the same time. In this case "touch-up" paint consists of a foam brush and a quart can of Rustoleum gloss black.

Going to officially transfer the title and buy plates for it tomorrow.
