Came home to a 4ft drift. So bought another snowblower that didn't run.

Fixed the 1032 2 weeks ago as a favor but had to send that one back to the owner. Learned enough to know it just needs a $15 carb so bought an 826 that hasn't run in 5+ years. Got that running with a spark plug and new gas. Buddy and I snowblowed for 2hrs before the -35f hits.

Had a problem with one of my less-discussed vehicles today that ended up being quite the adventure. I have an '06 Buick LaCrosse that is kind of an extra car, and because I live with a lot of family it gets used by a lot of people, although usually only for short trips and errands. I only drive it once or twice a month myself. Anyways, today I was driving my grandfather downtown to pick up a prescription for my grandmother, and while we're on the Fort Duquense Bridge, the temp gauge spikes from right in the middle to pegged in the red in a matter of about 3 seconds. Billows of white smoke ensued. So with no safe place to pull over, I keep driving until found a spot to pull over near the convention center and shut the car off. I popped the hood and coolant is everywhere. There is no way I'm gonna be able to fix this on site, so I called AAA and got a tow truck to flatbed it back home. It was getting pretty cold even inside the car but luckily the truck only took about 10 minutes.

Once the car was home and I got my grandfather taken care of, I got the car in the garage and started actually looking for the issue. I quickly found one of the two coolant elbows for the heater controls was cracked in half. So I made a trip to the new O'Reilly's and bought the metal versions of the coolant elbows and replaced them, and then filled up the coolant and bled it. I'm still running Dexcool in it since that was what was in it when I bought it and I've been too lazy to flush it. I just swap a gallon or so out every year or so to keep it clean.

I'm just glad this happened while I was driving the car, and not while my grandfather was out driving by himself or with my grandmother. It could've been much worse.

I also noticed while driving it on the highway that the front wheel bearings are making a lot of noise at higher speed. I'm not sure if it's the left or right, it honestly kinda sounds like both. So I'm gonna get two new wheel bearings tomorrow and plan to swap those out soon.

Since we are a little loose on the term project, swapped out a new receiver and added a second sub to my home stereo to make it 7.2. Now just have to get another pair of speakers to run the full 9.2 its capable of.....

They look about the same but supposedly 10 years makes a difference in features, luckily I went big while I was at Circuit City getting the 7.2 with 1080p HDMI switching which let me get so much out of it.

My parents' one tenant texted me late last night that his furnace that I just fixed was making a "noise." It was still putting out heat and working fine but there was a noise. If it wasn't for the cold weather I may have said ignore it, but I figured I better go check it out. So I drove over and it wasn't making the noise when I got there, but I took it apart and saw the motor shaft had some play in it, and allowed the squirrel cage to hit the housing edge just a little. It wouldn't have hurt anything if it was left alone, just made noise. I tweaked the housing with a pair of pliers and it's all quiet now.

I also stopped at Advance Auto and bought two front wheel bearings for the LaCrosse. $270 with tax, but it needs them. It's supposed to be up in the 50s this weekend, I'll probably do them then.

The day job has been preventing me from getting out to the shop. But I've been ordering the rest of the stuff I need to finish up the Cop Vic project.

Got a notice that the rebuilt gauge cluster is being shipped back today.

Got replacement plastic clips (one of which I broke) for the inline fuel filter hose attachments.

Got a single DIN stereo installation kit that actually fits the dash.

Picked up a few gallons for distilled water for the cooling system.

Picked up a case of trans fluid and another trans filter to perform the full flush I alluded to earlier.

Ordered the two faulty sensors for the airbag system. If it was just me, I would probably just pull the fuse to the whole system. But this is for Jr. System MUST work correctly.

The replacement ashtray assembly off ebay arrived and looks like new and arrived earlier than expected.

Hoping to get back out there this weekend to get it wrapped up.

I started hot gluing the passenger floor, fitting a switch panel, and testing seat positions.

Oh yeah, I installed the drive shaft too.

Replaced the windshield washer pump in my, always a project, 2006 Sierra. Why is it that things break when it's below freezing outside View attachment 104690 ?

I feel your pain Brother!
My 2003 Silverado has decided to "Nickle and Dime" me hard this year. ( Fuel lines, tailgate latch, Blower fan resistor, O2 sensor, plugs, Wires, Rear spring shackles, rear brake line, and now I believe it is calling for a new front wheel bearing.

Preach it! I think anyone with a 99-07 Silverado knows this particular section of hell very well.
