For some reason I couldn't post last night and today I'm off to a late start. So on my lunch break yesterday this happened.

Ice cold and not plugged in she kicked off with only 2 shots of ether. My boss was driving it and I followed him back to the shop. It smoked a little but it was cold and hasn't run in years. Today going in to assess the truck who knows it may have its own thread tonight. What do you think?

Well i think it's a keeper. I got it in the shop today and looked it over real good. Filled a garbage can with garbage and put all my bosses crap in the back of it.

Found and installed the air cleaner.

Put air in all 4 tires the right rear was flat and off the bead. Then I turned my attention to the open back window. I got the gate apart so I could get it open and found that it needs the rollers for the regulator and the steel track that's supposed to be attached to the glass was off laying in the bottom of the gate. The drivers side run chanel is mutilated and rotted in half. I'm going to see if I can finde a used gate for parts but for now I'm going to just get it to stay closed so I glued the steel strip back on the glass with window urethane and left it in the shop to dry with some rachet straps on it

It's going to need 4 tires and some TLC but I think it will be worth doing. I also think it needs a non G build thread but I'm not shore what to call it? Message me with some ideas

Build thread? Your call. Who doesn't need another distraction, right?

Cold but dry today. I cut out the patch panel and welded it in. Cold and windy is not ideal welding conditions but this needed to get done before the engine comes back. Frankenstein welds are ugly but will be out of sight. I primed with Interlux Primocon which is an underwater metals primer I use on boats. It is very durable and will protect the metal. I also drilled for the battery tray drain and mounting holes. I will upgrade the mounting hardware to marine stainless steel since it is such a harsh environment under the battery. Finally I will use undercoat to seal and protect top and bottom sides.

Actually it looks and smells a lot like POR-15. Unlike POR it is not a urethane with the catalyst already mixed. But it takes a similar aggressive solvent and when it hardens it is very tough. I use it on the underside of the hull on my aluminum skiff and on lower units. It is waterproof and gas/oil resistant.

tips for unwarping an exhaust flange?
If you can get the pieces loose a coarse belt sander could flatten both surfaces. Otherwise another thing I would try is to stack gaskets up.
