What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2020]

Was in Lowe's looking for some stuff for to some of my bachelor weekend projects starting tonight & ended up buying a Craftsman brushless leaf blower with a 4 AH battery & charger for $85, was originally $186. The battery alone $99, charger $74. Didn't really needed it but couldn't pass up an extra battery cheaper than what it sells by itself. Now I have another project blowing the leaves.

Started my day like this. Foot to the wood, first lap, hit the exit curb and watched my tire pass me and jump the f'in tire wall 15 feet in the air.

Looks like it already had a fatigue crack. Was a Superior axle shaft. Has anyone else had bad luck with these? Housing looks fvck3d too. I think I'll swap to 9" style bearings and axle shafts to save it.

I broke so early I was able to have another racer swing by yet another racer's house to nab a spare. Went from a 3.73 to a 3.42, it's better in some ways and not in others. Definitely still adjusting to it.

Someone is pleased with the stars and stripes.

GAME ON!

Popped the main door open to let in some sun and then swapped the cradle for attaching car doors off my other floor jack and replaced it with the sub chassis for doing t-mission swaps. The object of this exercise is to drop the TH350 out of my other G Body, my G10 van that is, and replace it with a 700R4 to gain overdrive for the highway plus a better spread on my t-gears. This is a winter project so don't expect a day by day nuts and bolts documentary about this.

I had to break out my "mobile" welding unit and wire it into the house to get the backside of my Jeep's rock slider welded in. While my 110 MIG welder didn't have any issues welding the top side, welding overhead was absolutely worthless. My bead would just run back into the gun and plug it up.

I ended up dragging out my early 50's Marquette 300B buzz box, adding a breaker and plug to the houses fuse box, and burning it in with some 7018s. That welder is reliable as an anvil, but it is also as heavy as an anvil and damn does it love power.

The bad thing is, I bought the box of 7018s yesterday and when I checked the date code on the box they were made in March of 2014. Still burned like they should, but apparently the local hardware store doesn't sell many stick welder rods anymore.

Gotta finish the subframe patch on the Mrs. 05 Freestyle, then on to the rocker repairs.

Rebuilt 4-banger installed. Runs like a sewing machine it's so quiet & idles down to about 150rpm w/no issue. Only 2x leaks.... Temp probe @ the upper water neck & exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe @ the flange. Going to wrap the probe in some additional Teflon tape & aluminum foil the collector flange then it's time for a much needed bath.

On to the next in line (mine). It will get a high compression 'B' head (6.0:1 😆 ) & higher flowing 'B' water pump. Looking for a 'B' cam but most likely will just get the OE cam put back in. Debating on how much under-hood clean-up work will be done for this round.
