Top end FE kits (heads, intake, cam kit, all hardware and gaskets), are $2600. Plus a free carb. It's an edelbrock, but sh*t free is free. Damn good deal imo. Cam is a little big for a truck imo, and it's still a ways off for the 390 rebuild, but a lil extra power never hurt no one.

Being as the truck is such a behemouth (compared to my car anyway), I'll probably source another 390 to build and drop in. I don't give a sh*t about matching numbers so hell if i come across a 428 for a reasonable amount, in it goes.

for funzies: desktop dyno 2003 says this for building it basically how I would build it.

Seems pretty accurate. It gave me 330hp/380ishfltbs for my 350 I built.

Ordered Natasha a welding mask for Christmas. She said she wanted to learn.

I imagine a TIG will be in my future. 😉

What do I buy myself for xmas....

15x10's for the 2+2?

FE heads are really good stock. They need harden valve seats added though. Your best bang for buck will be better pistons. More compression. If you want to build a 360? I can make you a deal on reconditioned crank and rods. I have one block that is worth rebuilding and a complete 360 that has a scored cylinder. Good luck finding a 428!

Got everything done just in time for the White Death to fall from the sky. The conduit is in, driveway smoothed, fuel for the garage furnace and gas for the small implements, firewood is in, and the snow blower is running right. That last one created quite a fiasco between having shjt gas, a munged up carb, and not being able to find a fuel bowl o-ring. Had the Pig out in the snow for maybe the 2nd time since owning it and it actually didn't do bad, but it was only starting to lay on the roads and they were salted. Whatevs, I didn't wreck it, at least. 20201215_150313.jpg20201216_134817.jpg

Got my *ss whooped by the snow. Tried to plow without chains, that was a disaster. Ran out and bought a set of chains then got the tractor hopelessly stuck in the yard trying to get it to the garage so I could chain up. Eventually I got it out and got it in the garage, got chains on it and was actually able to move instead of spinning tire.

Plowed my driveway and the neighbors. There is easily 8-10" on the ground right now.

Next you need to get the wheel weights, they make a difference.

I'm at work, can't wait to see how much I have at home tonight.

It's funny, my old tractor was smaller and lighter and did an acceptable job without weights or chains, but this one seriously needed chains. I might try out some ATV tires too, I hate how the chains chew up the pavement.

The plow is so heavy I think it is taking weight off the rear wheels; weights are probably a good idea.

Do the weights act like a heavy flywheel?

I have an old wheel horse 312 with a snowblower. Wheel weights, chains, and me aren't enough sometimes. I wanted to find a way to put a weight box on the back.
