Why the Corvette front section? I have a Corvette T56 that I want to convert for f body use and need a custom mainshaft in addition to the front f body stuff I thought?
Because it has the LS Input Shaft and the front 4 Gears needed that match the Countershaft inside. Put all them on the Fbody Mainshaft and then build up around it. This one being a 1993 where the front 4 are the oddball and only match the Countershaft, which only matches the Input Shaft, is why I would have to go through that to build up a fully functional LS Fbody type T56 with my parts here.

To convert a C5 Corvette T56 into Fbody you need the LS Fbody Front Plate, Tailshaft Housing, Fbody Mainshaft, Shift Rail, Inspection Cover Plate, and probably a couple small things like the 17x Reluctor for the VSS, Shifter base cup, few snap rings..

Given I have an Fbody T56 already it's easier to start with that, I got a bonus with the LS Front Plate.
I'm sure there's some busted parts unit in a salvage yard somewhere... car-part.com maybe?
You won't find a T56 in any yard unless it's completely murdered.

With the above said, I found one from a guy I know down the street. C5 Corvette T56, part number says its a MN6 type so from a coupe. Gave him $400 for it. Came from a running car just sitting for a bit.

I'll get to this when I get bored haha.

One thing you're missing is that 1-2 is triple cone and 3-4 double cone on the Corvette box. F body box has double cone 1-2 and single cone everything else. But if you end up scattering that 93 box I would love to get the gears and countershaft off your hands. I hurt 3rd gear in mind and never tore it down to see if I can just get away with synchro rings and hubs. Luckily the 2 different boxes share that much.

Yea, I get that with the Corvette ones, so I could see the want to convert a Corvette unit to Fbody for that. Why I have no problem swapping in the guts from the Corvette MN6 one here into the Fbody unit to make it a solid LS Fbody T56. I just happen to have all the parts now.

If I'm reading that right are you wanting the stock 1993 LT1 stuff out of this one here? I don't know if it's M28 or M29 yet.

Same reason the M29 stuff doesn't jive with the GTO/Caddy stuff.

If it's an M29 I'd like the guts, yes. I don't think the double synchro stuff fits with the f body mainshaft. Rockland makes a custom mainshaft for just that. If I'm misunderstanding something here I do want to clear it up.

I guess I'll find out when I get in there and compare them, I have taken down CTSV and GTO Transmissions and never really noticed a difference because of how that Synchro Unit worked splined on the Mainshaft with the Sliders.

Yea, I'll count it here in a sec and see exactly what it is.

It was based on the rear ratios.

Supercharged111 the Fbody T56 Unit that I have here currently is an M29, I did the gear ratio check on 3rd Gear to determine that.

After digging into it, the C5 T56 stuff definitely will not install on the Fbody Mainshaft. I got that Transmission from a guy I know down the street so I'll bring it back to him tomorrow, he had it sitting in his shed for spare parts so hopefully no hard feelings.

I'll have to keep my eye out for a front of a LS T56 if I want to set this up as that.

When I mentioned the GTO and CTSV Units, apparently they are double and triple synchro but still on a mainshaft that is really close to the LS Fbody. That is why it looked the same, the Corvette one is a whole different setup, never tore into one of them.

If you ever decide to convert the gearing over on that M29 let me know, I'd love the spares for my own M29 currently on the shelf.

I sent you a message.

Soooo here's a good read.. GTO Mainshaft will fit the C5 MN6 stuff in the Fbody Unit. I guess when you build them enough they blur together. There may be light at the end of the tunnel here.

Hot damn that is way cheaper than the Rockland part! Availability seems scarce, I wonder if a guy threw the dice and placed a backorder if he'd have one in a few months time?
