Lots of cold rain, so back at the 48 SPL. I GOT SPARK!!! Yeah! I double-checked all the electrical stuff- works good. Choke/primer, starter, ignition, trim-n-tilt, it all works. Then I checked the timing. The max advance allowed at WOT was 19° BTDC. It was right on. At idle, it should be -1° ATDC. That was way off, by a lot. I think someone tried bumping up the idle speed by advancing the timing. That works, but is the wrong way to do it. I set that right. I won't be sure of the idle speed until I get it in a barrel to run it. I still need to re-seal the lower unit now that it shifts OK. After I seal it I can install a water pump and button that up for good. Slowly buy surely................................................................................................
