What did you do to your non-G Body project today [2024 edition]

For us it would be more like 40/50 up here and good luck finding a venue that would host the gig. Too bad, sounds like the night could be fun and I am personally way past empty in the humor relief department.

Tonight, as noted elsewhere, was more of a non G project evening. Made it down to the basement and managed to find a replacement tool bit for the lathe so that I could finish reducing that Nylock nut that I mentioned to a shorter overall length for clearance when installing it onto the bolt for the panel cradle.

Also took on the task of removing the tank valve in the bathroom toilet and replacing it with an entire new assembly. In and out time was fairly quick; about a 1/2 hour allowing for needing to locate different tools than what I had chosen to begin with and discovering that I did not have an 1-1/8 6 pt deep socket to pull and reset the gland nut. I was able to use a shallow 12 pt as the nut is plastic and doesn't need all that much "encouragement' to come and go. An 8 inch crescent wrench did the rest. The new unit seems to be doing its job so now I can do mine.......................😉.

Think this will be an early night as tomorrow's to do list is already a page long and that doesn't include groceries. Finally did manage to lay hands on some decent chicken wings at the local M&M meats, so had a feed of them for supper. Some times I have to wonder just exactly how many of these food alert warnings for things like chicken and beef and ham are genuine and how many are lies, damned lies and political falsehoods perpetuated by those fifth columnist vegan tofu lovin' tree huggers who seem to be intoxicated with the whole concept of loving animals except when they are on the table for dinner. Thing here is that there isn't a milk crate big enough or a bull horn loud enough for me to give vent to that rant so best to leave it lay there in the road; maybe it will earn a kick or two by passers-by along the way.

Took it out for a good bit of driving on Saturday since I was bouncing around far parts of the area, man I forget sometimes how good she runs and handles

Got the key fob programmed for the GTO, using the obd2 dongle was so much quicker and easier than the 30 minute manual way of OEM keys

what ? you mean you don't want to turn it to On but not Start 3 times, open and close the door, hit the electronic door lock twice, open and close the door again, just to tell the system you are ready to program the key fob?
THEN you get to follow the really complicated procedure to program the key fob! :wtf: :blam: :itchy:

(I had to try and program a Subaru Impreza last week, you actually have to open the key fob for that.....geeeeeeeeeeeez)

Interesting procedure for my C7 Corvette....as long as you have a working key fob, programming another one (second, or spare) is a 5 min procedure. If you have no working fob due to loss, or "stupidity" (in my case), then you have to use the LONG procedure which takes a mandatory 30 mins to complete. You have to wait 10 minutes 3 times in a row (I think it displays a countdown timer on dash, can't remember??) before it will accept a new remote.

Fun Fact, while only the first TWO fobs programmed can have the Driver 1 & Driver 2 memory features linked to them (seat position, steering wheel position, radio presets, etc.), you can actually program up to EIGHT fobs to the car. What in the sam hill reason could there be for that????

Back in the day when they first started with the RKE systems (late 80's, 90's...) all you had to do was ground some pigtail hanging out of the harness in the trunk or behind the glove box LOL :blam:

Well not really "non G project" car, but just recently had to change out the AC compressor suction/discharge hose on my daily GMC. What a royal PITA that was, to get to the condenser fittings you have to practically take the entire front bumper cover off the damn thing. While in there, I noticed the alternators charging cable with a 200A inline MEGAFUSE was cooked right near the BAT post, scary to say the least. So after the AC hose was in, evacuated and recharged blowing ice cold, I went ahead and ordered the cable from GM. It goes from under hood junction block to alternator, and down to the starter.

To say that was a royal PITA, worse than the AC hose assembly would be an understatement. The cable down to the starter runs down behind the AC compressor, and was not fun to get out, or route back through...even with a piece of wire attached to the end of the old cable when pulling it out...anyway, the good news is the static/whine on my AM radio is now fixed, and the noise in the speakers anytime the reverse cam was on is also gone, so the scraped up bleeding forearms, hands, and fingers turned out to be worth it. LOL

Got tires mounted and balanced. Have to clean up the letters and wash the soapy water from the wheels. Got the transmission pan down for oil
N filter service now. New got an AC Delco filter kit that’s made In the USA! Need to replace the shift shaft and seal while I’m in there. Hope to have it back on the ground tonight if all goes well. 🤞
