What paints to use to black out trim?

I painted my plastic chromed grill with Sem trim paint and it stayed on. I scuffed it with scotchbrite and cleaned it good before painting it. It's my second season with it and I only had to touch up in a few spots where something had hit the grill.

I have used low gloss black engine enamel on chrome trim before. It looks similar to the factory blackout but has slightly less shine.
I would just scotchbrite the trim first and then paint directly on trim with no primer or adhesive promoter and I never had an issue with pealing or chipping.

I use SEM trim black, I have tried a lot of other cheaper stuff and I just keep coming back to SEM. That is what we use at our body shop for stuff like that, I have it on my car around the headlight buckets where there was some old rock chips it works the best, plus the self etching stuff just saves you that much more, and it sprays with a smoother texture then other stuff. The only stuff I haven't tried is the trim black from Napa it is a Marten Senior product and is suppose to be nice.
