It seems pretty clear that we are at a market apex for the turbo Buicks, particularly the GN and GNX. Those values cannot really be compared with other G Bodies at this point in time. If a thorough analysis was done, I suspect there would be several subsets that average higher than standard G Bodies in general, such as low-mileage original Monte Carlo SS or Hurst Olds.

I personally like the non-special edition looks. The white or two-tone T-Type is the Regal I would want over the all exactly alike all black GN and GNXs. I like the 442s and Hurst editions, but my Cutlass will not be rebadged a 442 or Hurst, it will be what it is, a 79 Calais, but with a better drivetrain than Uncle Sam and GM would allow for in 1979.

79 malibu bought November 27th 2021 not a bad car needs a few things but over all solid got it for 1200 and now split that in half if you want to count goin in half's with a buddy lol

You defiantly got a GREAT deal on that Malibu!

An inevitable conclusion to make here after seeing mostly GN's popping up for sale and brining historic and record monies, is that the GN and GNX are indeed at the top of the G list price wise, next would be the 442's / H/O's Monte Carlo's and such, not in any particular order on the latter. Still the best deals out there it seems are from individual to individual, out of someone's lawn or a friend of a friend kind of deals, because if your buying on eBay or one of those car collector sites, you can almost bank on paying double, just makes sense when you have fees incorporated into the sale.

One thing people have to remember is that even though the Grand National's are bringing the best coin and increasing daily, this truly does help the entire G lineup in my own opinion. and will bleed over into the other makes, your seeing it happen now. With collector groups, G enthusiast such as this group growing in numbers, and each year that passes, less and less are available, supply and demand will keep bumping values up for sure on all makes and model of G's.

Keep this blog going! You all are the G masters, the eyes and ears out there! Would love to see more and more posted up to give everyone an idea where the market is, and going.

Have a great G Body Day!! --Will

Just something about those wagons that tugs on my heart, LOVE THEM!!! Thanks for sharing!! Beautiful ride!!!

Kinda forgot how good a stock MCSS looks, although my choice would be gray or saddle interior.

IMO, examples cited from anytime before 2020 have no real relevance today. The dumpster fire that has been the last 2 years has driven values to the brink of insanity, and not just on G bodies. Sucks to be in the market for anything right now. Only decent deal I've seen was the Escape I bought for my youngest, and that was pure luck of being in the right place at the right time with a customer that didn't want to fix it.

3 days to go and already at 150K 3 sold for ~250 @ BJ last weekend with the last ever Gbody an '87 GN hammering for $500K
Not quite as exotic:
used to be a car an average guy could buy. Wanna take bets where it's going to go? Already approaching $40K

It's not all bad news though, there's still stuff attainable out there:

Rust free, complete and only $3,000. I was something like 4th in line on Day 1. So when a deal comes up you gotta jump on it.

18 months ago you still could've had a GN for <$20K

With the sale of the last GN for $500K, you can pretty much count on all GNs going up WAY up, followed by the Turbo Ts and then your basic Regal with pillow top seats will start to bring good money with people who want to build LS/LT powered clones. This same thing happened in the early 2000s '69 Camaros went from $10K to $30K over night because of some 6 figure CoPo sales at Barrett-Jackson.
