With the GN's, I see the super nice/low mile cars def going up in value but not @ the near $100k numbers some seem to feel they're nearing. Now, in 5-10 more years? All bets are off.
https://www.mecum.com/lots/CH1021-494127/1987-buick-grand-national/ sold for $85,800 in October. Might be sooner than we think!

The people who think $15K is a reasonable asking price for a roached out Malibu have to be out of touch with reality, even on eBay they can't get $7K for one.

Well, they did legalize marijuana in most states now

Purchased ours in Sept 2021 1979 Grand Prix LJ 231 Buick v6 t-top car purchased in Ellicott City Md for $3500 including delivery to Richmond Va top was nasty with a ripped seam, missing all but one bumper filler, leaking valve cover gaskets and bad water pump. 66,000 on the odometer states to be original but not too sure runs well, we sorted top seam, painted top, fixed power seat and put new headliner in. Replaced rear bumper and one front filler painted parts and touched up some distinct areas just making a nice slow cruiser to take out for some ice cream on a nice weekend or putt putt around. We purposely are not breaking the bank on this car

That's the one I was referring to. Some people may not be in on our conversations regarding the ridiculous pricing on that one. They'll see it & think that's where I'll start for mine when they place their FB/Marketplace or C-list ad.

i don't know if i should be asking how or why they're bringing this much?

I think it’s always the simple supply/demand, sprinke in some inflation for good measure. As mentioned prices on everything has jumped up, g-bodies I think were increasing anyway for reasons touched on but the Covid-flation just makes it seem absurd.

I purchased an ‘83 Calais w/ T-tops Sept 2022 for my youngest that will be his school car For $13k. It came from Minnesota so I expected some rust & so far it’s mostly surface rust underneath. Painted 20 yrs ago to semi resemble a H/O, tuned up ‘69 Olds 350, turbo 350 trans, rear differential has been upgraded. I’m not happy with what I paid b/c the seller talked up a big game. I don’t think he was being dishonest I just don’t think his attention to detail or his idea of show quality are the same as mine. I feel 5 yrs ago it was a $7-8k. the car really doesn’t need anything to be a daily driver but the plan from the start was to get a vehicle my son could learn to work on so we get to pick and choose what changes we will start with, stereo, performance suspension, etc.
What got him into a Cutlass is there is an ‘83 H/O just east of Minden, Nebraska on the north side of I-80, in case anyone is interested, that we went to look at. The guy is asking $7500, Interior is trashed and full of rodents. Claims it runs but was overheated, shifters are kinda there, and hail damage allover it. Totally a project car.
I’ve watched G-bodys for years and I think that the demand for unmolested ones has gone up b/c there is so many of them lowridered or donked but that’s not what my generation was into. they were really popular when I was in HS in the late 90s so I think my generation is to the point they can afford to have one as a toy or collectors item. my wife & I have been looking for a while for a car for him but we did want something nice for him which meant we were looking between $15-20k for cars with 150,k + miles.
my coworker has a mint condition low mileage ‘83 H/O moonroof car that we’ve been in agreement together that someday will be mine. 10 + years ago we were at $12k for price. We are closer to $20k now when he decides to part ways with it
