What's the selling price!??

It’s before 2020 so I guess not relevant but paid $2,000 plus transportation fees for my 81’ LeMans in October of 2018. Ran/drove but had no 3rd gear and the seller said no reverse, but it usually worked for me the few times I drove it before trans swap. He was asking $2,500

I know someone in my state that flips MCSS’s and don’t know if I want to give away too many details but in the last 1-2 years he has sold them(several) ranging from 9-18k and they typically sell within in days of posting. Nice shape and cover a range of condition, but they aren’t low mile original’s or anything.

Some people laugh and question the prices, and some ads/cars deserve it, but the market isn’t 2005, 2015 or even 2019 anymore. And guys pounce on anything reasonable it seems, so you have to move quick. I would buy parts Monte’s and had a run for awhile several years ago finding them locally but now those types of cars are going for the price of a project car.

These guys are having their own Barret Jackson auction.

1st listing, rust on driveshaft, not rare enough of only being "1 of 231 Regal sedans" so I'd only offer him $8000.
2nd listing, no original tires, fluids, headliner or rear bumper fillers which makes it degraded & a unoriginal beater, this would only be a $6500 offer.
High standard prices demands high standard snootiness.

1987 El Camino 85k original miles.
I bought last April for 14k. Fresh paint with only door dings. Only rust is on the doors where the window sill meets the front pillar (I hope I described that good enough)
Galveston county TX

The $80K car might have a shot of getting in that ball park in an Auction or consigned at the right dealership (if it truly is only 1600 miles), I'd be stunned if he got it on Facebook though. $120K might be a stretch less than a year ago that was GNX money at Barrett-Jackson:

Standard 'start of the year' Barrett-Jackson inflation increase. People think they'll get somewhere close to the numbers but they're more likely to still own the same car on the same date in '23.

As I stated before and predicted 20 + years ago on values on these cars, this is the new norm, for now as prices continue to rise for our beloved G bodies. It shouldn't be a surprise as history is just repeating itself, this time with our beloved G bodies. Just think what the older generation thought as their 50's and 60's cars that could be purchased for a few hundred dollars when they were in high school, breached 50, 75 100+K years back, and still increasing in value today. I guess it's hard for our generation to believe as most of us remember being able to buy G bodies for a few hundred dollars too, that were inspectable and drivable!

This is all good news for individuals who currently own G bodies, not so much for those seeking one. The cost of these cars has lost many perspective buyers because frankly, they are out of their price range now, which is sad because these are great project cars for beginners with so many drivetrain options to choose from.

Values and prices will continue to rise on these vehicles, and we yet to see these peak out! I'd say within 10 to 15 years give or take, trust me, you will be surprised at what nice examples will bring.

My advice to all, buy now while you can find any reasonably priced example, you have to look hard and act FAST, but there are still a few examples left out there, and even if it's a project car that you don't get to finish in years to come, don't worry, you will certainly be able to flip it and make coin if you have free storage available to keep it.

I think we all agree..... The value is only going up. But, examples like the Malibu Classic I have are commonly online around 12-15k but aren't worth it based on how worn they are (like that $7k MN/MI Malibu that keeps popping up for sale on the NET). I think a no rust, clean, fairly original car could bring that amount; just not a 'well used' one. With the GN's, I see the super nice/low mile cars def going up in value but not @ the near $100k numbers some seem to feel they're nearing. Now, in 5-10 more years? All bets are off.

Values are highly subjective.

Sure G bodies are getting spendy...so are 4 door 70s Impala sedans and 10 year old pickups with 200K miles. It's called runaway inflation (with a big dose of insanity for added fun)
