Because "they" will start to tell you when you can charge your car. And if you run out of range before your next permitted charge you can't drive.

The idea a car will plot your trip and plan your charge to keep topped off... nice theory. Is EVERY ev going to be wired together in a skynet setup, or, will you get 200 cars planning to charge all at one where there are 5 chargers not knowing everyone is headed there?

Really, it's disappointing where things are and where they've headed. It used to be people came here from behind the iron curtain and were amazed by the variety of goods you could get, how there weren't shortages, how you could start any business you want and make anything you want, same with buying.

Slowly, that has eroded to where special interests are trying to ban small motors, shelves are empty, inflation is rampant, and govt is force dictating changes to what you buy, own, use... even what you think/say has become a target where you're supposed to be woke or adopt certain ideology.. make no mistake about it, all these types of behavior inch closer and closer to soviet era type planned society.

That is part of the idea. There will be a planned shortage of chargers that will lead to rationing like during WW2. However, the rationing will also fail by design to lead into the elimination of private car ownership and you will have to subscribe to rideshare firms. If the technocrats get their way, it will be worse than thd soviets, they want a return to feudalism.

The new 5.0's have DI and port injection so you can just stick some bosch 210's in the stock port injector ports, keep the DI fuel economy at low throttle conditions and then toss the 11.0 AFR in under boost.

The flat plane crank Vette engine is what the highest HP NA factory engine made?

Dodge has made the hellcat 6.2 since what, 2015? 8 years production life surpasses anything supercharged ford or GM in one generation.

There is always diesel hotrodding (if you can bypass the epa). Diesel isn't going away anytime soon.

Some of these comments are relatively factual, others not so much.

There is a lot of work being done by various companies on E.V. technology. Mostly because governments around the world are handing out grants and low/no interest loans like the fat guy who'll be here in a few weeks. All of them hoping to cash in. When / if the funding dries up, they'll disappear one by one.

The future is in hybrid technology. It lessens fossil fuel consumption and satisfies the green gang to an extent.

E.V.'s would work for some applications but not everyone. Re-charging is the number one problem not the range. Remember the pictures of Tesla's lined up for blocks? Think of that X 100's on a holiday weekend.

One thing to remember with the batteries. They only have a limited number of charge and discharge cycles. Each time it's plugged in and then used, that's 2 cycles. Do that multiple times / week. The battery will slowly lose it's ability to take/keep a charge. (read-range).

Replacing batteries to regain the long range will be big business in the future.

Hybrid.

There are many companies working to develop/ already have hybrid powertrain set-ups. Even Cat, Cummins, John Deere etc.........

Depends what the emission laws will be like. Those batteries are full of toxic heavy metals that need to be carefully disposed of. The batteries can also catch fire days or weeks after any damage. Plus there is the high voltage hazzard which brings up another issue with EVs. The high voltage requires special safety gear such as linemen's gloves and special insulated tools which are quite expensive. The high voltage combined with anti tampering proprietary software makes EVs less DIY friendly.

I know at least Teslas are connected to wifi full time to be able to run which makes them susceptible to hackers. Cars should remain airgapped IMO.

It’s not gonna happen overnight. It’s going to take time to get the infrastructure in place.

The “free market” will decide.

I have no interest in any self-driving EVs, but that's all anyone wants to sell me.

I will gladly pay more for biofuel, but no one wants to sell me any.

By the time technologies mature and market forces play out, the climate may very well have passed a tipping point. I'm just sayin'.
