Working on the wagon..

I've never seen those either and they look terrific. And with the clipped bumper you have a one-of-none look. COOL!

It's funny to me because all the mustang II guys were trying to make their tricolor lenses all red....guess it's all about being different.

Good to see the progress, Jack. Keep hoping to do something to one of mine, but always seems like there's plenty other more pressing projects. Now that we bought some property in my wife's hometown, not sure if I'll EVER get anything done. :?

Brian,
It is kinda funny when you think about it. People always want the opposite of what they have. I like being alittle different, and not completely follow the cookie cutter pattern.

Thanks Brian. I guess we have to do whatever is higher on the priority totem pole. I spent the last week on the roof and eaves replacing rotten wood and roof decking and shingles. Talk about fun things to do.. I'd much rather work on the car. I think I prefer cutting out rust and welding in patches than do that type of work on the house. But again, if it isn't taken care of in a timely fashion, it becomes a larger problem down the road.
Does the new property mean that you'll be building a house or some sort of structure there? That would certainly require more of your devoted time. :?

Thanks Mark,
not many people have seen them before. I kind of like the separate amber for turn signal and hazard lights and the red for brakes and running lights.
I did have to revamp my taillight harness. I clipped off the small 194 bulb sockets and soldered on a few 1157 type sockets .
I also had to run an isolated wire for the brake lights right off of the brake light switch. I also had to replace two sockets for 90 deg. sockets because they wouldn't fit between the taillight housings and bumper support bar. That's mainly because of the way I had sectioned the bumper and support bar.

BTW, I miss Mr. Natural..

look at the bright side, it could have been the roof on your wagon that was rotten..

Those lites look great on the car and I still can't get over how you got the body gaps so nicely done..

Steve,
Had it been the roof on the wagon, it would have probably become a parts car...or convertible..
Thanks for the complements, Steve.. 😳 you're making me blush..
Hopefully, I'll be able to continue with decent gaps when I hang the new doors and fenders.

Hello,
Bravo Jacques, nice job. You are faster than me, I have not yet mounted US Tail Lights.

The Euro Tail Lights are very hard to find for several reasons:
- The old American cars under 30 years were not very successful in France and even less if it's a Station Wagon (This is unfortunate), they were rarely restored and often destroyed after a few years.
- For the old American cars under 30 years in France it is very difficult to get a Title from vehicle.
- The Malibu was not officially imported by GM in France, the Caprice yes, the Malibu from France often come from the Switzerland were they were imported.
- The El Camino's success here, but is often purchased in the USA (not always) so the US Tail Lights.

Long live the Malibu Station Wagon  and big thank you at the fabulous Jack.

Bon jour Sebastien.
I see that you found my posting and pictures. I was also going to write to you and tell you that I had installed the taillights that I received from you. As you see, they look very nice on the car.
If you need any help getting the USA lights properly connected, etc, please let me know how I can help you.

Thank you for explaining a little history about the export taillights and how they were available in France and other countries.
We will continue to keep in contact. I feel not only did I find a cool set of lenses, but also gained a new friend.

Merci beaucoup mon ami....many thanks my friend. Long live the Malibu wagon.. 8)

Jacques 😀

Jack the wagon looks amazing... love the rear tucked bumper. Good to see you back at!
Hey, thank you Tony.
I'm glad I got the gumption and enthusiasm to continue on this project.
How have you been, my friend? How's the tribe? It's been awhile since we've last spoken. What are you working on these days? More upgrades on the Monte?

Howdy Jack!
Yes after many other distractions with other cars, I've settled back into my Monte. I'll have to post a build thread to share some pictures. One of these days I will drive it down there to visit! But my wife does want to go to Seaworld this year too.. so it might be the HHR we take this time lol. I will have to call this time when I pass through Gainsville.

Hi Tony,
Yeah, you've certainly had a slew of nice G-body cars...and a few others.. 🙂 If you're ever passing thru again, give me a shout.
The HHR would be a good economical road car. I've seen a few sedan delivery versions. I think they're cool as hell.
Any other work to be done on the Monte? I would think it's pretty well done.

Has Ben been in contact with you? I'm anxiously awaiting more progress pics of his Cutlass Cruiser.
