I'm still working but it's really slow and with that I don't try to make an easy buck cuae it will always come back to bite ya. Had a client call me wanting a "no compete" agreement for a new employee starting tomorrow. I did some research to prove to him that a "no compete" agreement in his line of work can never be enforced and to try to enforce it will cost him around $10k going through the higher court. Even with the caution I gave him he still wanted it so I made a few $$$ but on the account I noted the discussions we had so if the "no compete" agreement costs him money down the road he ain't coming after me claiming I gave him bad info. .....

So, the no compete wasn't discussed during the interview? Can you imagine showing up for work the first day? "Oh, yeah, sign this"

I've been furloughed since late March, and the unemployment payments are being withheld.
In other news the Buick's windshield is leaking badly and I can't hire anyone to help fix it. Time for disgusting amounts of silicone I guess.
Get the flowable silicone, it is a lot runnier and will get down into areas the normal stuff won't. Saved me having to get my rear window pulled in the El Camino.

Ive been working since the start of this basically. Yesterday i got back to the shop and my boss called me in and told me thanks for working thru this bs. He gave me a 20% raise and an extra week vacation. Its hard to explain because im paid on production but i figured my check at 1200$ for the week and they paid me 1480$. So this is the one good thing that came from Chinese virus.

most would make a u-turn and walk out....but a smart guy might sign it cause if you get fired or are forced to quit at some point the settlement gets larger cause the employer will be stuck to pay for the period of the no compete agreement, there is quite a bit of case law covering the subject.....
