Come to find out when we bought the car my old man put a new camshaft in the 307. My question is will the 307 Camshaft work in my 350 Rocket? It's aftermarket not stock. Please let me know. This way I can save money and not trash good stuff. Especially since one the 307 is ripped out it's going to the scrapyard.

I'm not an Olds engine guru but according to summit all cams fit from a 260 to a455.

Since your 307 has swirl ports, it will have the roller cam. Probably a very wimpy grind, even the 442 grind is marginal. Due to the tiny ports and compression drop no doubt. Yes the cam will fit but the lifters won't. Olds changed the lifters to .921 when they went roller. Flat tappet are .842 diameter.

Eh, 307 was not a good motor anyways to me (personal opinion). I think I might order a mild cam maybe? Anyways, got one here to post that I got my Cragar S/S Rims today and will be putting them on tomorrow (in this cold Iowa weather). Will post a picture. Anybody got any Ideas or opinions on what I should do with the 350 Rocket to give it enough street power? I know that this motor (with a 2 barrel) can run about 275hp to 300hp. I am putting on a 4 barrel aluminum intake and I know that will increase horsepower. What will a mild cam do?

I got the "new" Cragar S/S wheels on tonight. Took a good hour and frigid temperatures. I think they look good.

Looking good!

A mild cam will extend the rpm range past 4000 rpm. The stock cam has a massive .400/.402 lift and under 200 duration. You will have enough compression to run in 210-220 duration no problem.

So basically I should just keep my stock cam in? Clean it and the lifters up and throw it back in?

Just a heads up to everyone following this build I will be pulling out the Olds 307 this Sunday in order to clean the engine bay and get it ready for the 350 Rocket. Also junking the 307 (and some other stuff) will give me money for the gaskets to put on the 350. I will be taking pictures of the engine and transmission being pulled, cleaning the engine bay and prepping it, putting the gaskets on the motor, installing the engine and transmission, hooking up everything, and the outcome. I thank you all for the help and support with my Cutlass. 🙂
