Your car *WILL* get stolen!

My cutlass is a Daily Driver in the summer. Whats so bad about driving a G body everyday? I could understand a 63 corvette not being a daily driver, or a 50's boat with drums all around, manual steering, and manual brakes. But isnt the point of a G body having a car that you can drive daily and not feel bad about if it gets a dent or dirty? At least thats my thought.

My security? A carb turbo car. Thats sorta a theft detrant right there!

I had a great kill switch well hidden in my old Malibu wagon. You had to reach up through some sharp sheetmetal to feel around and touch it. One night some lowlifes tried stealing the wagon and couldn't get it started- so they threw a cinder block threw my windshield. At least the amateurs didn't smash the steering column trying.

You, and only you should know where your hidden kill switches are.
I love that people are sharing this information to help each other out, but I don't post in these threads for a reason...
Good point Blake 442. :!:

Now THAT's a new idea I never thought of..... a boobie trap for thieves!!! Sharp metel eh.... hmmmmm.
Anyone else have a nice, feasible boobie trap idea that would work? I'll add it to my first post in this thread with credit to you. I know one idea was a siren, inside the cabin lol.

Indeed 😎 The only reason I'm posting what I am below is because I'll be tearing the '81 down to use parts on the '78 anyway.

I actually have this on the '81. It's hidden where you can't reach without physically crawling around up under the dash to find it, and even then you have to go through a bunch of crap to get to it. Its relay is armed off the same armed trigger as the starter kill. The way it works is even if they get under the hood and disconnect the underhood siren, they won't know this one is there until they try to start the car. Basically the relay provides a ground to the siren, and the positive side of the siren is wired to the ignition... so if they get in while the alarm is armed and turn the ignition on, they're greeted with a nice loud siren to the face.

Oh, and the brain for my alarm is NOT hidden up under the dash like everybody and their brother (along with the stereo shops, etc.) mounts it, it's somewhere else that you won't know to look without tracing wires, and good luck finding those too 8) That's the joys of knowing how to wire an alarm, you can hook it up wherever & however you want.

My '78 will also have the wiring hidden/tied into the harness where you can't find it like on the '81. I'll also be doing the latching relay deal like I talked about before.

My uncle had a 72 olds and he wired up 3 "ignition" switches that were all extremely loud horns when activated. The real ignition switches were in 3 different hidden spots. The car was broke into and was attempted to be stolen 3 times. Each time the steering column was ripped apart. Im not sure exactly how he did it (hes an engineer) but thats something I would do along with alarms just for extra security. He also had a fuel supply killswitch that was hidden along with a fake killswitch on the dash. It was crazy watching him start that car!!!

I desided to try my hands on a homemade alarm, with a budget of nothing more than 150 nok, (thats aprox. 20 $)

I bought.

-1 tiny flipswitch
-1 electronic turnsignal relay
-1 work relay
-1 interior light delay.

I hooked the work relay and the turn relay together with the horn, and to the interiorlights

so with the switch flipped, and you opening the door, the horn goes of, in intervals of the turn relay!

this alone works, (i scared the crap out of my son, when he had forgotten his gloves in the car, and vent to get them!!)

the interior light delay, well, figuring out how to mount it, so the darn wont go of in the same second I open the door!

but nonetheless, It works!!!

how effective as an antitheft devise it is, I dont know, but at leat now I know, when uninvited people, gets into the car!
the bat does the rest!!!

Well it's a deterrant, but a theif would still cut the main power to disable it (provided your off switch is well hidden), so to be effective you'd need a backup battery (and a second siren to be safe). Otherwise, very innovative and creative.

Hey guy's, I was reading this thread and think that it's cool that this subject was brought up. I had my baby stolen from me once and I don't every want it to be so easy for a thief again. All I have was a dang Viper alarm that came with it when I bought it and a dang steering wheel club which I didn't put on because I wasn't plaining to stay long in the neighbor hood I was in. Then I got drunk and passed out and when I woke up to go home, I was carless! All because I was careless. . . . . . . But I did get it back even though it was in a really rough condition. I do have 1 question though, What do you guys think of hood locks?

best alram is clifford avantguard with carjacking, made by dei
other than that no matter which alram u have they can still bypass it so i would recommend getting your column wrapped with a steel collar permanently which is only available here in miami, steel willy is his name he also has an ignition switch that when u remove the key the whole switch comes out with it leaving the hole like its missing,he also made some type of mechanism on the column shaft and installs a pin with a lock and key which is accessible under the defrost vents and does not alow they wheels to move no matter what..
so with the full steel collar in black or chrome,
ign switch pin,and
steering wheel lock pin, theres no way to steal it other than tow it..and for 450 its a great deal and piece of mind..nearly every gm in miami has it because of it and now hes doing newer cars aswell.

heres an old pic vehicle is a 73 caprice, same concept as our cars as u can see and he went with the all chrome column for looks

in this pic u can see a silver metal looking circle under the column which is where the key goes with the pin when locked in
position..car is also a 73..till this date nobody has defeated steel willy's security detterents

Ok dude, there's a problem here...

That 73 car in the picture above... it's parked in a "Do not park" zone.

Lol but seriuosly, very innovative and interesting stuff here bro. I'd like to know more of what Steel Willy does. Does he have a website or some online documentation about the security products and services he offers? It would obviously market very well because they're unique. Anyways 87LS-WITH-AN-LS, thanks for the info bro.
