There are eraser wheels you can buy to chuck in a drill that can help where if needed. They won't mar paint. I'd also get a few small plastic scraper/ putty knifes. Lowes here had a red colored scraper for 3dollars & something that has a pretty stiff density to it, better than the black putty knives.
Besides a few short helpful techniques, it's pretty much man up & get after it.
