The chrome spears on the front doors on my brother's truck have been bubbled up for a long time....

This truck is in very nice shape. He has no plans to replace it so we are always looking to improve it. I found a pair of NOS spears. Yesterday morning I thought replacing the spears would be an easy, rewarding project. I didn't want the spears sitting around for 18 months. Boy was I wrong. We pulled the spear on the Driver's side door. We used dental floss to cut the old tape. The results were calamitous. A bunch of paint lifted.....

I've never had this happen before. The paint had failed under the spear. It woul just flake off with your finger nail. We spent about an hour cleaning off the old tape with adhesive remover, thinking we'd just cover this up with the new spear. Neither of us were really happy with that idea.

We ended up putting the truck in my storage, gutting the door, pulling it off the truck and taking it to the painter....

We put the truck on the battery tender and covered the cab with the car cover for the Roadmaster. The top of the door above the window had some clear issues so this will work out well. The painter is a collision painter at his day job so this is his specialty. He's going to blend the base in and reclear the door.

This is a little extreme but it's fixing it right. We're supposed to have the door back next weekend. That was not how I thought we'd spend our Saturday.

This project was 37 weeks in the works.

She had a bit of a rough ride, diagnosed with a fetal growth restriction so induced early, but not prematurely. She's out now and doing well at 5# 10oz. Hospital has been slammed with deliveries, who knew? Now that my mom is in town, I get to finish dealing with her car while she helps us around the house.

Congrats! That's amazing, and thankfully you still have one good hand to hold her with. ;)

Our second one was growth restricted, coming out at 4lbs 6oz and one day premature because she decided to send her Mom into labour before her scheduled surgery. Hilarious!

That's the head holding hand, the other is intact enough to support the bottom half. This one did not want to come out, it took some horsing around with the pitocin, manually breaking her water, killing the pitocin, turning it back on, but once she was out it was smooth sailing. Mom is doing well and we're supposed to be out of here later today. We showed up Friday at 1930.

Well it was yesterday but I took the daily to work for a quick looking over and to install a new console lid but when I bought it inside I found this

Apparently I need to do just a little more rust repair on the frame because the gas tank was falling out. I guess the bed is coming off sooner than later but for now it got a rachet strap looped over the cross member and back to it's self so I can send it a few more weeks. And seeing how I need to go there I may as well buy some rockers and can corners for it and only pull the bed once. Unfortunately the bed is so bad there will be no bolting it back on. So I'm on the hunt for a decent used one. Gotta love northeast rot! At least the weather has been a little better lately.

Wouldn't it be easier to keep putting ratchet straps on?

Forgot to ask if your second is small for his/her age? 4#6oz is tiny!

She was 5th percentile for about the first 5 years, developmental delays (ie. gross motor skills) were the biggest hurdle with respect to her size - but that was more a function of the hearing loss. Once we got that addressed she was up and moving, and is just playing catch-up. But, she's got a tonne of personality (like her Dad). I was a small kid and that worked itself out.

Her older sister is 95th percentile (double the size of her sister at birth) and a literal tank (like her Mom was).

For this reason, when they handed me our youngest I thought to myself: Where is the rest?

If this isn't your first forget everything you thought you knew.

Good to know, you're the first I've run into with a fetal growth restricted kiddo. It is #3 so I'll keep an open mind. Her left ear passed but her right ear didn't. They're gonna redo that at the 24 hour mark which isn't far off.

Why? There was a nice one for sale in Fort Dodge a while back. Didn't know you wanted another one.
Didn't see that one. Also I wanted one kind of ratty but it's still 78.54% better than my old car.
