Stepping up in garage heat.
The house had a vent and Nat gas line plumbed to the garage when we bought it but no heater. Bought a 1970's $40 33k btu heater off FB last year and installed it. It's ok but not really large enough and not thermostat capable so I can't leave the garage at say 40 and then bump it to 55-60 when I want to work. Really the heater I bought is for a basement room or cabin not something big like a garage.
Went to the store that pirates yell when they get hit in the crotch (me-nards) during their bag sale 15% off. Basically if it fits in a normal paper grocery bag you get 15% off. Well the clerk rang my big arse 50k btu heater up as 15% off even though it clearly didn't fit in the bag. Noice. $340, I like that!
Handed the user manual to the wife since she does codes and facilities engineering for her job and figured she would like to read it and I unboxed and started to figure out fittings. Should be an easy install since everything is there right? ERRR. No.
Basically found out the reason the heater probably wasn't in the garage was because it was put in totally to book and wouldn't pass the inspection so they pulled the heater and left everything else.
The vent outlet currently goes out the side of the garage wall and venting dump is required to be 4ft away from any window or door (it's like 1 ft away now) so to use the existing vent I would need to put a 4ft long stack coming out the side of the house. Yeah no. I'd (probably) hack it in but she has a hard time separating her code conforming 8-5 job and house stuff so I told her you read the code book and tell me how it needs to be done lol.
So now we've got to drill a new hole in the roof which isn't a problem but it's covered in snow. So gotta decide what to do there.
I did put the thermostat in though so at least I did something.
