Hey all I recently picked up an 84 Cutlass 4 door parts car. It's got the luxury interior RPO code 67I, 67T, etc. that says it's "Lt Camel", however it's definitely dark brown. It's got only 79,000 original miles so I seriously doubt it's been changed or dyed. Can anyone verify the name of the G-body dark brown interior? I want to see if I can get some fabric paint to freshen up where the sun faded the seats a bit. Thanks!

In Chevrolets it's Dark Briar Brown. A personal favorite.

Thanks! I saw that name researching on the web and wondered if that was it. Is it common or rare in G-bodys? Do you or anyone know if the SEM paint "Cordovan Brown" would match?

Personal observation is that it's not as common as red/blue/tan. Seems to be an 80s thing, I've seen it in Malibu wagons, Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles and a couple Buicks. I had rounded up a whole wagon interior from a couple of Bonnevilles and a Malibu wagon.

I'm thinking 82+ for model year usage. Found in lots of the 2-tone brown/silvery brown cars

That appears to be the color I've had in about a dozen 1983 and 1984 buick regals through the years. It was also called dark briar brown in those models, both in velour and the 'pleather' 45/45 split half console versions.

Thanks for the info everyone. It has a full power driver's seat. The passenger side moves front and back manually, I'll have to check to see if it reclines tomorrow. This car's interior is about flawless, from carpet to headliner. Unfortunately it was crashed in the snow by the previous owner, so I bought it for the interior and a few parts I can use on our Cutlass'. I'm going to swap the entire interior except the dash into a very well worn 86 Bonneville I bought a while back, this one is for my second oldest kid to start autocrossing. The interior on the Bonnie is gray, which I like for this one but it's pretty hammered inside, top to bottom. I was going to paint it charcoal gray but now with wanting to swap the brown interior in I'm leaning more towards a lighter metallic gray paint color, Which I think jives better with the brown. I've been thinking about just wrapping it in 3M "Anthracite Grey Metallic", which is sort of a medium gray with a very very slight blue tint and lots of metallic in it. Plus those couch potato seats in the Cutlass are just so dang comfy! lol.

The brown started in 81’ when they did the two color interior thing, my 81’ has a brown dash/column and beige everything else. If it was a console car the console would of been brown to match. Think the solid brown was a 83’-84’ thing in the same shade as the two tone 81’ and 82’s. 85’ started a new color palette and no more brown.

When re-doing my interior this summer I tried SEM cordovan brown, bluebird brown and g-body parts briar brown. None are perfect but I found the cordovan brown to be the best match.

I’ve also never seen a power passenger seat of any kind in a g-body, not saying it couldn’t exist but I’ve never seen proof or saw it listed as an option.
