I suppose that’s an option, but it’s due for an oil change anyways so I’d like to just dump it once and be done with it. However I’m not wild about the idea of changing it before locating the problem for obvious reasons.
I think personally I'd drain it sooner than later being such a smoking gun. If it's full of metal you have your answer, and at that point it doesn't deserve new oil anyway. Are you at a point you're ready to yank the motor if it comes to it? Could also leave the oil in and cut open the filter.

I can yank the engine at any point, if that’s what’s necessary. Cutting the filter open is another good idea, thanks. I need to leave it as intact as possible until at least Saturday when my buddy can come have a listen to it with me. After that I can blow it into a million pieces if needed.
The flexplate just came to mind. I remember Mr. Sony's Buick flexplate breaking, wobbling and making noise. I've also read/heard alot about flexplate failures over the past few years but have never seen one in person myself. I was kind of hoping it is the flexplate. While pulling the trans sucks, I think I'd rather that over some sort of internal engine problem.
100% agreed with you there Jared. I’m not ruling anything out at this point, but all I can relay is what I’ve found to be the case so far.
What I found is curious is that this noise is new and didn’t make it before the header installation. I don’t believe in coincidences, usually if a new symptom arises after work done, it’s usually related to what was just done.
We did have to jack up the engine off the frame stands on both sides to fit the headers in, but we did it carefully and methodically. Didn’t take any unnecessary risks or push things beyond where we should’ve. Nothing was disturbed at the flexplate other than removing the inspection cover for more room.
