6:26:08 to see "Monte Alban" run a 12.46 at...66mph 😂 man you were HARD on those brakes!
Funny story. We smelled oil yesterday while moving through the line to check in (5 ****in’ hours). This morning I started the car and had a small bit of blue smoke that smelled oil out of the exhaust. I moved the car and trailer to pit area from where I had parked it out in the north 40. By the one I got to the pits and parked there was a plume of oil smoke following me coming from the tailpipe. Has to be the turbo I said to myself. So we swapped the genuine BW S475 with an aftermarket turd (néw) that my son acquired for free. Solved the problem.

Now the plot thickens. Fubar’d on the lane organization by hotrod. I made a pass at 2:30,
1st pass of the week. I lifted at the 1/8th and stood on the brakes to make sure I have a legal pass to get to the next track. Ran a 6.60 1/8th with a shitty 1.8 60’. Hit was awful. I didn’t have time to look at the log until we got to the motel after 255 miles of driving. Albeit the 1st time I’ve ever ran this with pump gas - so a little tuning on the way of the flex sensor. Worked great and appears to have gotten about 14-15 mph pulling 1100lbs of trailer. So I look at the log - the 2nd fuel pump never turned on. My fuel pressure dropped to 31 psi and the 210 Bosch’s went to 90dc and the AFR went to 12.9 -
13.0 at 25, yes 25, lbs of boost. Holy Jesus is E85 forgiving.

Just figured out the relay for the 2nd pump gave up the ghost. I have a new pump on hand and spare relays, so I’m good for tomorrow.

Moral to this long winded bit is that if I had gotten through tech quickly yesterday, then I was destined to oil down the track with either a blown turbo or a windowed block. If I hadn’t lifted just before the 1/8th, then I’m sure I would’ve scattered this beetch. Maybe things happen for a reason lol.

Onto tomorrow and see what it brings. For now I’m reloading the trailer and getting the car back on the ground. I promise to make a better showing soon.
P.S. - this turbo made 25lbs on gate 🤪🤪🤪

I was all like: That's it?

Freiberger was the same.

Even the most sorted street cars have issues on Drag Week - the guys and gals who deal with real mechanical issues are my heroes. Enjoy the struggles, it makes for good memories.

And Mr. Freiberger loves Fleming's Olds. He is doing well, send our regards.

Jim is one of 3 white Monte SS's at DW this year. Lends to some confusion when I am watching the live feed.

Looks like I need to leave at 3 am tomorrow to get to Byron by 830. Zoinks.

Bruce ran low 12's yesterday. Seems like he is one and done.
