I almost bought a 6BT Engine for some side project stuff. Buddy of mine has a 1994 we've done some small stuff to and he uses it all the time.

It starts right up every time. Pretty hard to argue with 320,000 miles.

I decided to take the risk of paint fade and removed the tailgate trim panel today. Glad I did. No fade at all and I think it looks much better. The letters might go eventually but they don't bother me nearly as much as that ugly piece of black plastic.

Supervibe is at 317k. I'm chasing you down, kid.

30 years after first seeing it, I still really like that color.

317k, that's awesome. I probably won't be racking up miles as fast as you do.

I like the green. I didn't realize there are actually two different ones. One is called Forest Green and one is Emerald Green. This one is Emerald. Forest is a little bit darker while Emerald has a bit of a bluish tinge to it.

NOTE: Due to the age of the vehicle and the use of shared sales codes, some of the build sheet information may be missing and/or inaccurate.

And in less exciting news, I went to shake out the floor mat on the drivers side today and felt the carpet and it was damp. I pulled it up and son of a b****, it was wet underneath. Not sure what the source is but all I can think of is the center stop light. I pulled the carpet back as far as I can without removing the seat so it can dry out. I'm too pissed off to mess with it right now.

Seems like a very well appointed truck. Loaded, to me. What year is it again?

It's a 1997. It is very heavily optioned. There are only a handful of options that it doesn't have. I'm kind of excited to see that it has remote keyless entry. I'll have to buy and program a couple fobs, but I despise using an actual key for unlocking. Most of the time I don't even bother locking the truck. Not that there's anything valuable in it anyways, but the point is, I like RKE.

As far as the wet carpet goes, I did a few things after dinner. First I removed the cowl panel and vacuumed out all of the debris from inside and made sure that the drains were clear. They didn't appear to be clogged, but there was a nice sized mouse nest in there. Second, I added an elbow to the A/C condensation drain, so that it has no chance of running back into the cab, or down along the firewall and into the cab. Apparently this is a common issue. Lastly, I removed the third brake light and added some 3M strip caulk around the gasket and reinstalled. If it was leaking before, it won't now.

I'm going to allow the carpet to dry out and then carefully observe.

Carpet dried out, and I put it all back together hopefully one of those things was the cause. I'll be watching it closely.

I ordered a pair of used OEM keyless remote fobs from Ebay after getting the build sheet. They cost $10 shipped. I programmed them yesterday, took less than a minute and they are working. The panic buttons don't do anything but the lock and unlock functions work.

The drivers side door lock actuator hasn't worked since I've had the truck. I could hear the motor running but it won't do anything. I removed it and cut apart the casing to see if I could fix it but the gears were stripped. I checked the price on a new one from the parts store and it was $130. I thought that was utterly ridiculous so I went to the junkyard today and grabbed one for $10. I brought a 9v battery with me and tested it to make sure I got a good one.

And while I was at the junkyard I found a truck that had a nice dash in it. Last time I left a good dash at the junkyard it was gone in days. So I asked for a price, they told me $150. A dash cap costs $200 so I went for it. I was super nervous pulling it and getting it to the car but I got it there in one piece.

Initially I thought it was the wrong gray, there were several different versions but upon checking the trim code, it's actually the correct Mist Gray.

It has some holes drilled in the lower parts and it's gonna need a serious decontamination/sanitizing, but it was a nice score.
