My truck is part of the Takata airbag recall. I've hesitated to take it to the dealer for the recall because my dash is cracked in three places by the passenger airbag. I don't really want my dash busted up worse and I don't really want to turn my truck loose to total strangers at the dealer. I need to address the recall before I put the dash cap on. For the money, I decided to do the repair myself, like most things. I went to the dealer this afternoon and bought the inflator. The truck is in the storage out in Willis right now. I got the Roadmaster out on Sunday so it would get driven some. It's been sitting for around 10 weeks. Anyway, I'll likely go get the truck and do the airbag repair this weekend.....

It's not that he has done a few, it the chance to have fun with the old one. Who wouldn't want to set one off (in a controled enviroment of course) for fun?

Finally got around to the DIY Takata inflator recall for my passenger side airbag. Wasn't a bad job at all. Drop the glove box door, pull out the upper storage compartment and door, disconnect the battery, unplug the airbag, four bolts and then CAREFULLY remove the airbag assembly from the dash.....

Why I decided to do this job myself....

Remove....

Replace....

Back in....

My kind of project. Maybe an hour, maybe an hour and a half. I was super careful removing the airbag from the dash. Now I don't have to worry about me and my passenger getting killed or maimed if the passenger airbag deploys. Neat.

I'm only the 3rd or 4th owner, bought it 4 yr ago. born in Alabama, then minneapolis, then ft hood.

already had some cracks when I got it
