I just think it's a radiator problem

That could be, but you need to make sure the air isn't going around the radiator. Just cruising down the highway a stock radiator should be adequate.

A new rad sounds like a good investment and probably necessary with higher compression. You want a minimum 2 core with 1" tubes for a replacement.

Hopefully it cools better than the Champion 3 core did for my 403 in my 88. It depends on fins per inch etc. That 800 hp rating is wildly optimistic. A large 2 core will out cool a 3 core and usually a 4 core. Another thing that helped my car is the GN rad surround flaps. They basically make the air go through the rad, not around.

Dp you think a 2 core with 1 1/4 tubes would be best and where did you get your radiator surround flaps?
