Sucks... Glad he wasn't hurt!
Even with my shitty, sun-baked paint I got $3300 from State Farm for my Cutlass wagon when a hail storm totaled it in August 2013.
Minus $500 for my deductible and another $500 to buy it back, I had $2300 left to get started on the restoration.
My favorite yard has about a dozen Cutlass wagons, so I can help find stuff once spring rolls around and the yard thaws out...
What state is this yard with all these wagons?

Sorry to hear about the accident as well. I'm glad your son is ok. Idiot drivers are one of the worst and most common hazards on the road. Sometimes paying attention and reacting quick still can't get you out of their way. Your son deserves a lot of credit for trying his best to avoid the accident. To look on the bright side, the car does look repairable from the pics. Good luck getting the right money from the insurance company, finding parts and getting it back together and on the road again. That's a very cool first car.

Hey everybody, thanks so much for your support! I will PM those of you with leads to parts.

Blake- That buy back you got sounds a little promising. I am expecting the worst- "It's totaled and here's your check for $800." and hoping for the best, whatever that may be. We don't have all of them, but we do have most of the receipts for parts on the car. Everyone has been saying that should help.

Hey Ben,
So sorry to hear about Roman's car. First off, I'm glad to hear that he wasn't seriously hurt.
Secondly, it's a shame people are so damned negligent and oblivious of other motorists.
It looked like you guys got his car performing and looking good. I hope the insurance company doesn't try to put the screws to you... I know they're good for that. Don't accept any low ball offers...stick to your guns.
Hopefully the car can be put back in nice driving condition again. The car was a rare find.
We'll all keep our eyes and ears open for parts. You might even consider finding a complete roller, if you run across one.
This whole experience has had to be heartbreaking for Roman. It looks like he put his heart and soul into this car.

Thanks Jack. Yeah, he's pretty heartbroken. He's been collecting parts for over a year to convert to LS power and do some interior upgrades to get it ready for LS Fest West in May. I doubt we'll make it now. Bummer, but there's always next year and we mainly are all thankful that he didn't get hurt. We discussed putting whatever $ they give him towards a new platform, but he won't budge. He has always said since he got the car that he will never say "I wish I still had my first car" because he intends to never sell or get rid of it. I admire his dedication. Because of that rebuilding is the only option. We plan to document all of it. If I had my way I'd be dropping the frame out and notching it, boxing and reinforcing, minitubbing and a roll cage but not sure he has the patience for all that. ;)

If you have a lot of trouble with the insurance, call an appraiser and have the conversation. See if it will help. Good luck with getting it back together. I'm sure you both will get it there. Best wishes.
Good thoughts. I have a very good friend that is registered with a company to do classic car appraisals, but he lives 4 hours away. Unfortunately we can't just pay him on the side, it has to go through the company to be official and we'll have to pay full price, including whatever they charge for travel. Roman is tapped for cash until the settlement, but my friend and I have spoken and he's on deck should we need him to come down and help with an appraisal.

That's good news Blake! I'll send a hair dryer your way and some long extension cords. ;) Sending PM...

Point out all the posts on this Forum as evidence that Roman's wagon has had a lot of sweat equity put into it.

It looks at least like your Son wasn't driving like an a** like a lot of young drivers do. - It could have been much, much worse. Drivers, like the one your Son had the displeasure of meeting make me drive like everyone is an incompetent wheel holder and I expect them to do something stupid around me(of course I'm not referring to you G Body drivers).
This is a great G Body community and I'm sure whatever you need you will find it here.
