    Hood release cable replacement tips?

Thanks Safari, fortunately I was able to avoid that. I gave it one more fist bump and it popped open. Replacement wasnt too bad. I removed the windshield wiper motor for ease of access and I was able the get the thru-firewall grommet to seat properly. Works like a charm!

    Why am I overheating?

Sounds like air in the system. Remove your thermostat housing, fill the block through the thermostat housing, reinstall your thermostat, housing and upper radiator hose, crank it with the cap off and top it off gradually when your thermostat opens.

Front end: Do myself or let mechanic???

I would NOT do it without a spring compressor. Also highly recommend the chain/cable safety idea.

Front end: Do myself or let mechanic???

Use a spring compressor, most parts houses will loan you one, be extremely careful, take your time, let a shop press your control arm bushings in and out and you CAN do it yourself.

Front suspension rebuild kit 85 Elky

Thanks Dave! I have been leaning towards just going with all moog parts after reading a ton of stuff about the unneeded overkill of polyurethane for a street car. Wonder what a full moog kit would cost? I am assuming it is not available in kit form and I will need to piece it together.

Front suspension rebuild kit 85 Elky

Any opinions on best bang for the buck front end rebuild kits? I've checked out the PST kit for 420 bucks on ebay. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with any other, (read: cheaper), kits? This is a street car and I just picked up all the F41 pieces and a set of KYB'S for it so I...

    OPG...Overpriced Parts Group.

Yup. Their inability to understand the economic concept of "price elasticity of demand" will eventually put them out of business. I don't buy anything from them because I can't afford it. :(

Monte Carlo Clip on an El Camino

Mike, Great job! I really like the way the monte fenders have that sweeping line that transitions into the doors. Great look! Do you know if the SS monte nose would have fit? And did you consider putting it on? Awesome job! Car-crafting at its finest. Ian

Best shocks for the $ for 85 Elky?

Well, he's not going to thrash it. (At least he hasn't yet) Somewhat amusing actually. He drives it like he's a grandmother, parks it as far away from other cars as he can, parks it in the garage every night, refuses to drive it in the rain. We live in a rural area and I was driving home one...

A little something to offend everyone

Driven, Popped open your thread for curiosity's sake only. Saw the Datsun and thought: "getting offended? This should be easy based on the 65 and 85 elky's and the 70 GTO in the garages." So... I read the first page. Nope, not offended yet 2nd page... Nope, not yet. Page 3...

Best shocks for the $ for 85 Elky?

I've searched this post and gotten a few ideas. Anyone want to weigh in on best shocks for the money for an 85 Elky? I've looked at the bilstein B6's for 300 a set and the KYB's for 200 a set. Anyone have any thoughts or preferences for any other brands? It's just a street car and will not see...
