Would the grills from the 78 fit in the header panel on the 79?

no they wouldnt if u look at the header panel of the 78 cutlass the grills are wider, leaving the space between the grills more narrow, and look at the recent pics i put up of my car with the 79 header panel the grills are shorter leaving the space between them, wider

Oh ok I wasnt sure I am gonna have to double check the one I bought then and make sure its a 79 panel for my car.

yea i noticed that when i bought a header panel for my car then brought it home and sat it next to the the 78 that i had smashed and picked out all the differences between the 2

I found this header panel on E-Bay :http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/78-Oldsmobile-Cutlass-Header-Panel-Grill-Grille-1978-/250639775915?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a5b4b78ab

havnt posted any updates on my cutty in awhile, figured i would, well i last left off on a search for a 78 header panel, cuz i crashed last october, so its been almost a year, and i have that header panel off a 79 on my car now, well i have a cutlass calais, and i cant find any calais grills in good condition anywhere, and i found a guy who had 2 calais grills right and left, but he wanted 85$ for each plus like 15$ shipping for each! and i couldnt find a 78 header panel in good condition for under like $275 well a about 2 weeks ago this guy emails me and informs me about this car in NH 2 hours away from my house, but the car was a 78 cutlass calais with t tops, i call the guy and ask if i can take a look at the car we stripped the car, cuz it was rotted to sh*t, well i go up there and check out the header panel, and its in pretty damn good condition except for a small crack near the headlight, but no biggy east fix, it had black vynal interior and the front seats were reapholstered, and there was a small rip in the passanger seat, but it has all th4 chrome on the sides and it wasnt cracked at all, he kept the back seat, but i walked away with the 2 bucket seats, header panel, bumper mount shock, reverce lights and misc.interior parts for $140! 😀 so i pretty much got it all for a steal, and a couple months back i got 2 front fenders in mint condition no rust or rot, or dents, for free! so im getting ready to finish up the body, and its going out to paint this winter, and im pulling the motor to paint it and clean it up, so by spring i can put it all together, but i have some pics of the headlights i got for the car, and the header panel seats, and i have a bunch of pics that will be posted soon, and throught the winter i will be posting pics of it being paited in process along with the motor,....

plans for the car now is to get all the motor work done, then get body ready for paint. going to paint it black, with a black landue roof, put most of the chrome trim back on, 3 inch exhaust , that come out right behind the rear wheels, pretty much just make it look like a sleeper

whats going on, havnt done any updates on the build in awhile do to the caus of me being a slacker, but i got the motor all back together, and the heads redone, no more leaks or blockages in the block, heres a pic, just need to paint the heads and start putting the pullys and carb and everything else back on
