1980 Pontiac LeMans Station Wagon - G-T-faux (stuck with it, and can't shake it... like a bad case of herpes)

You say actual rear swaybar. Meaning stock style or. Just curious. Sounds like you have a good plan for it. Post current pics if you can: )

Stock style. What I meant is actually install one... because: "save me, Jebus!" these cars need one (or two)...

I'll get some pics soon - but, it really isn't that exciting. The wheels and tint will make the biggest noticeable difference.

BeCool rad, electric fans, MCSS steering box and high-effort pump (along a serpentine belt drive system from a MCSS) , F&R shocks, front sway bar and endlinks, and wheels are in/on.

A Performer intake manifold is in the mail, and when the car comes apart for that I will swap the differential and rear sway bar in. Still have to rebuild the carb... hopefully I can get the stereo working too.

Anyway the "Organ Donor" drives infinitely better than it did just a few days ago; now we just need to give it a little more umph and style - and a good cleaning.

That's a good looking LeMans. You obviously realized it was too nice to cut-up for parts.

The best news is that finally sold off a TPI 305 swap I had kicking around today; and made back 75% of the money I spent on this donor - how to make a wife happy on Mother's Day.

Sounds like a win-win situation all around...good for you. 🙂 Gotta keep the women folk happy in the interim. 😀

And she was - right up until I woke up to the rhythmic sound of rod knock when I started the car... Figures it would be on the day that I had it scheduled for safety/certification.

Now it really is a parts car - and that disappoints me on many levels; I was really starting to like it.

I've had a flex plate crack that sounded just like a bearing knock....

I hear you, and thanks for the tip. But, the more effort I sink into this, the less work gets done on the wagon (which is waiting for a Hughes LS1 SFI flexplate sitting on the shelf) - and free time is a rarity for me these days.

In the Army we have ten Principles of War, of these Economy of Effort seems to be the most fitting to this situation and is defined as: economy of effort is the judicious exploitation of manpower, materiel and time in relation to the achievement of objectives.

So in fixing the turd I am not achieving my objective of building a wagon for my family. Time to cut my losses and to move on.
