1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Sedan LS Turbo Build

Have you tried the poly clamshell inserts? When you put the trans in did you bolt up the cross member? Did you mock up with a tall trans mount vs a short one? How much height do you need? I kinda feel like a touch of driveline angle and maybe a hair higher in the mounts might help. Got any pics of the amount of contact?

There is this option also for over $100 less than the 302-2. You need an LS3 distick tube also so thats another $45 to add to the bill.

I have run a pickup pan on my car for 2 years at stock ride height, but plan to go to the pan below since I want to lower the car an inch or two up front. The alternator is close on stock pickup accessories but it will clear. I have the smaller diameter alternator from like an 06 work truck 1500, engine is as low as possible so the steering doesnt hit the pan and i trimmed the hood support around the alternator since it rubbed.

What motor mounts are you using though? I have these mounted to SBC clamshells (B2 Fabrication):

Haven't tried the poly inserts yet. I think I posted the clearance with the steering linkage in the thread. Its like a hair away. Right now the trans is just mocked in place, with the cross member. The tail of the trans is higher than it will be normally, so in theory the front of the engine is getting pushed lower than it would be.

Yeah I have home made ones on stock frame mounts. If you need I can measure the block to mount surface to motor mount to frame pad distance. I had the fab skills and tools and have a philosophy of put the important stuff where it matters and fill in the gaps. Thats what i did here.

I guess what I am saying is its possible to fit a truck pan in a G body with stock accessories and have everything fit, its just nobody seems to publish a list of what parts actually work unless you buy an entire kit from Holley. People make 1" setback, slider, and whatever mounts and swap power steering pulleys, oil pans, and other parts at random until stuff fits. There is no recipe that just WORKS for an affordable price that people actually publish.

That TSP clone holley pan is pretty new to the market, not sure anyone has used one on a G body yet.

Even shops like bhp rods ship mounts with a GM musclecar/5.3 h3 pan which is pointless since its like an inch better than the stock truck pan.

This might be a stretch, but I am going to try to get the car to LSFest, September 2019...

I have a ton of parts on the way, lets make this happen!

Haha, that's my goal as of now too. I'm just two hours north of Bowling Green.

Awesome! You have quite the jump on me, but lets try! Its 800 miles from my house to Bowling Green. I think I will leave the 2.41 gears in it for now LOL
