I've been there before. Take a break. When you cool off it will be much easier. But I will take you advice a soak it a couple days in advance. thanks and keep at it.
 too late... bolts been off updated again before your post, but yeh let it soak... and heating it up woulda prob helped... came off pretty easy once i got down a pulled on it pretty good...

You had to be working late because I posted after 12 and you hadn't posted that yet when I started typing mine up. But Your looking good Keep going. I was excited that I didn't need to get the backing plates off the car in the junkyard. Now I'm a little sad that I still do. That's a little more work for me in the yard now that I have to take out the axles. But It's cool I'll get it all done. I'm not really in a rush. I'm still working on my engine.

I didnt work on it late, I posted my update at 1015pm (im in California!), i stopped working on it around 10pm, but anyhow, yeh, when i initially posted, i said to grab everything, which is what i always do, if im going to tackle something like this, the original thread I read (which i posted the link in one of my earlier posts) used the stock backing plates, and when i looked at the flynbye stuff, looked like it may work, but you wouldnt have a working ebrake, which i dont care about... anyhow, it is simple enough to use the stock stuff, thats what i get for being lazy... positive is, i have done this for around $150...

dnt worry about the axles they arent hard to pull

the older brake caliper will work fine with these brackets and 12" rotors... the part number is HFConvBkt12 and it says for 12" rotors with the LT1 calipers, I misunderstood what he said when i called him before i ordered the brakes... i like the ls1 calipers anyway

ill try to get a vid up or pictures of how to do so, if you have two people even easier, as you will need to push each wheel in to get the c clips off, or you can use a pry bar and do it from inside the diff... anyhow, there i a bolt holding the pin in, take that out, spin the dif, knock the larger pin out a little, spin it back around, pull the pin with pliers, take a screw driver, push in the axle, take the c clip out on that side, do same for other side...

if really worrying you, ill try to find some next time i go to the yard, when i pull the stuff off, ill give you the option of buying it off me +shipping... just let me know, you can do it

Just answered my next question if this upgrade is easier with (in my case)have my posi off,as it was recently rebuilt and por-15 bathed  gracias for the "how-to do this for 255" now if i can only employ the services of the kuruption,to sniff these" nessasary parts"we'll be stoppin on a dime in no time
yes easier to do with off i would say, but been easy so far, having an issue with the big *ss bolt on top of the drum backing plate, muthaf--- wont come out

made me take a break, but im gonna run back to the garage right now and get crackin... imma be pullin several sets in the next few weeks...

i already have a ebrake drum, so gonna pull the calipers off one soon, to have a complete set or two sitting...
Definetly interested!!! If you have some sets or will be getting them,my lil bro is in colton so we could arrange possibly a meeting place, and shoot you the chips or if you want to ship(on my dime of corse) just pm me price and lets. Do this.

another $7 for wheel seals, which I had on my rewards points from autozone, so no additional cost here... have a sawzaw, good blades and drill bits (I used three, small pilot, then little larger, than 3/8s)...

IMG_20110905_134646.jpg

cut the top of the flange off (both sides), right at the edge of the raised part, just below the large hole (used a little oil to help with the cut and drilling, was pretty thick metal...

drilled the bottom holes out with 3/8" drill bit
IMG_20110905_140513.jpg

bolted the backing plate on the flange using the two bottom nuts and bolts... holes lined up perfectly, then marked the top two hole (using small drill bit to drill pilot holes), then used slight larger bit, then drilled using the 3/8" bit...the top holes on the backing plate are slightly farther apart than the holes on the bottom... doing all the cutting and drilling probably took about 5-10mins at most, so I feel super lazy trying to shortcut by using the brackets and Ive learned an $85 lesson...

bolted the backing plates on, fit perfect and flat against the flange...

I put the axles back in like a jackass... need to pull them back out to put longer studs in, which I totally forgot about, i want more thread...
IMG_20110905_151630.jpg

push the axle in, put the clip back in, pull the axle out till it stops, do the same for the other axle, then put the larger pin in, make sure it is lined up with the bolt that locks it in... (which i will be reversing to take the axle back out and put studs in) Ive never done anything like this, I am surprised how it is coming together pretty nice, but you run into little stuff, the nest swap will be cake...

took the pressure off the shocks, which will need to be relocated (easy to do with L bracket, i may just use angle iron not sure yet)
IMG_20110905_160307.jpg

started bolting up the caliper (greased the caliper bolt holes)..
IMG_20110905_153206.jpg

IMG_20110905_153159.jpg

put the rotor on the axle, bolted the caliper bracket to the backing plate, then put the brake pad hardware in and pads, bolted on the caliper, with the brake line on the bottom, bleeder on the top...
