If you suffer (well, your car is the one suffering) from slow power windows...

There are solutions out there to add relays, etc.etc. These solutions look logical and well done, but a bit complex... and I was about to go that way, but... Giving one last chance to the switch... using Deoxit.

Well. It may be expensive, but IT WORKS. Very happy not to splice wires & etc.

Your wiring may need a different solution, but I do think starting with using Deoxit is worth it. Remember, your car has seen years of rain through the windows, cigarette ash, road dust, etc. And that sh****it goes right into the switch and make contacts resistive.

Worked well with front and rear windows - they are if not fast, at least faster 🙂

Love seeing this sedan build. Reminds me of my long gone 84.
If you are interested i have a mint set of 84 tails stored in my garage (saw them last when i moved a couple months ago) id love for them to go on a project car like yours.

thanks for dropping by! tails, as in tail lights?

I had a set of 1978 Eldorado inner handles sitting in a box. They fit with some work. I looooove the curve of the handle, and the fact they are protruding a bit more & are longer by an inch. Not the same build quality as 1984 Olds either, much tighter and sturdier. And there's an extra built-in switch (was used for an OEM Cadillac alarm), maybe for some future projects... Little things. Will be a much needer improvment for the current driver side handle which is worn out. Just testing this on the passenger side for now.

Speaking of a crazy person...

I retrofitted some stuff on the Cutlass.

I needed a switch on the door handle to operate the illuminated door key holes... well, why not go crazier and retrofit some OEM theft deterrent stuff from a 1978 Eldorado I had in the box (complete with all the wiring harnesses!)?

There's a switch pressed against the lock cylinder that will only trigger if someone destroys the lock cylinder; this was also used on Corvettes. Also a circular on/off switch that I will reuse to trigger the electric power door unlock (at some later point).

I had to reuse the longer shaft of the 78 Eldorado lock cylinder, and re-route the handle opening rod (using a 3D template)

Yep. I'm crazy I think. I find this stuff oddly satisfying.
