It should work out well for you....just go into it with realistic expectations.Wound up buying a 350 TBI out of a Chevy P/U and got a new 700r4 with it for $1,500 bucks. I'm going to have to shorten the trans a bit for it to fit. Guy sent me a video of it running.
I'll add shocks/springs to the front due to the extra weight if needed.
3 hour drive to pick it up; guess I have to buy a motor stand?

TBI heads aren't going to make big power.....and your 2.xx factory rear gears won't help matters. But TBI is simple, parts are cheap and readily available....should be a good cold weather starter.
I would expect that a stock tbi 350 and factory 2.xx gears would run pretty even with a factory l69 305 in a monte SS with 3.73 gears. Headers, a free flowing exhaust and swapping to 3.42 - 3.73 gears would be worthwhile.
