The radiator you referred to is a 2 row- The reason I suggested that you use a 3 row from a car with a/c is maximum heat rejection capability. You don't have to have a/c to take advantage of the cooling.

Also, another poster came up with this "From what I see in the Chevy parts book ('76-'81) All A bodies engines used the same fans, it varied based on cooling needs. It list a 7 blade/19" dia. for '78-'81 267, 305, 350 with heavy duty cooling, A/C. P/N 467895. "

Sounds like what you need

number of rows isn't always the important number, the size of the tubes in a row is....

How much power a fixed blade fan takes

the fixed blade fan take more power when the car is stopped, it takes less power at 60 mph since the fan is not trying to move stagnant air. It is also lighter than a clutch fan so there is less mass to rotate

besides that, this is a street car that needs to be cooled so who cares about a loss of a few HP, at the end of the day you want your engine to survive in your DD

The 4 blade fan is available at most stock-car places (Smileys, etc) in stock. I put one on a Postal Jeep, worked fine for that

briguy: WTF would you want your engine temp as low as 160 degrees? Never going to make optimal power at that temp
I thought the stat was malfunctioning since car stayed at 220. I didn't want it to be that hot especially on hot days. Drove it in a cruise and was stop and go the whole time. Car didn't like it and was getting hotter. So i Put on the 160 and still stayed at 220. Put that fan on and now it's at 160. I'm not racing the car so I'm not worried about 1/4 mile numbers. Just want the car to be a sweet driver and to stay cool

Which is why I suggested 1" or bigger tube 2 core rad.

It's got 3/4" tubes. Says it's good to ~525hp on Champions site. I have a little more than half that, so it should be fine once i change the thermostat to a 180 at least.

That is highly optimistic in my books. The 3 core Champion was barely adequate for my 403, 195 to 215, 235 towing on the gauge so 185 to 205 according to the temp gun with a 160 high flow thermostat with a Flowkooler water pump. No I didn't have the 4 blade fan, I had a 7 blade clutch fan with a new clutch. I would have put on the 4 blade on and probably fixed all the cooling issues I had. Didn't know it existed and was this affective.
