8.8 swaps - who's done them

You should ask gnvair and maliboost

They seem to have done it with some success. I know the google machine will offer some kits available. I’ll wager a guess that most anything from Spohn, UMI, SSM, TRZ , etc should work.

Following just on the off chance that I can find one of these.

I'll throw out what I've found so far looking around.

From a fellow forum member:
Mustang install

Explorer install

Mustang install from trick chassis
If you go with the kit from Trick Chassis, be prepared to chase the threads on some of the arms. I had 3 out of the 4 threads on the bottom arms really rough, my foreman recognized the parts as Allstar performance stuff, and it’s a common problem.

Found 2 more pictures of mine

Spohn upper & lowers

Umi uppers & lowers

So trying to make a plan forward with this rear end. If the axles are changed out to accommodate the Chevy bolt pattern, what are the options for brakes? Is there a Chevy pattern rotor that will work under stock mustang brakes? Or does this become a change the braking system scenario?

I guess this would also apply with any of the 8.8 rears.

You can run the Ford brakes by redrilling the rotors or drums to the GM bolt pattern. I run the 98-04 Blazer disc's on mine as I had my housing reflanged with GM pattern 9" ends.
Not sure who you are getting your axles from but Quick Performance axles we're drilled for both GM and Ford/Chrysler patterns.

Agree 100% - re-drilling of the rotors is not difficult. Just remember that when you replace them.

If I get axles I guess I can use old ones as test mules to make sure I don't fuq up.
