BUILD THREAD 81 Buick/Olds Turbo Wagon 02/15/2024 More Parts!

Small update, got in the garage last night and did some little things. I put in the high side a.c. hard line and new orifice tube, the EST module and MAP sensors bracket. Fabricated the audio system power fuse bracket, and put the wheel well to radiator support brackets.

I still have to replace some of the dirty hardware, and clean up a few things so don't mind them, haha.

I didn't get a pic with the a.c. hard line installed though.

Bigger update. I have the bottom side of the hood painted, I painted the frame and air pan in body color, and the raw fiberglass with bedliner. I mounted the hood, the headed and installed the dash and DS A-piller.

Now, the hood is fiberglass and not perfect, so to get the leading edge nice, I added some hood bumpers, and put springs on the hoodpins, just to get the leading edge of the hood lined up with the header panel.

No gauges or nothing yet, but the dash and A piller are in.

You can see the spring on a hood pin (a shock spring from one on my Losi trucks) and the additional hood bumper.

Same deal hear, and the high side a.c.line is in.

That's looking really really good Jim.
You're making great progress by the day!
I did the same thing, installed the hood pins in the original bumper locations. I have polished stainless aftermarket bumpers similar to yours that I just located a bit more inboard.
I really like the spring idea over the pins, that's a smart idea. I imagine it makes the hood a bit easier to open when it pops up as you remove the cross pins. Cool!

Keep it coming brother, you're on a roll!
😉

Thanks Donovan. Been hammering away to try and get it done. I'll have some minor details to do on bolt heads and the like, but that is an after paint project. I was having an issue with the leading edge of the hood not following the header panel, so I just used some existing holes and a decent set of used bumpers to get it to line up. I am not 100% sold on the looks of the additional bumpers with the hood up, but they are necessary for the panel match-up when the hood is shut. The springs are the to mainly keep the hood from rattling against the black anodized pins and plates, the addition spring to get the hood up is a bonus. The jeep spring does a great job getting the hood up from the latch.

I'll shot you a PM here pretty soon to work out the other deal, I am on the run right now doing things.

Sounds good Jim, no rush.
Thanks.

Super excited, I picked up 4 quarter window garnish clips for the wagon, part #3073629. I need 6, but scored 4 nos clips in boxes from eBay. Paid 60 bucks for all 4 shipped, ouch! But they are impossible to find. I need to score 2 more.

Lookin good!
Great score on the clips!
I didn't have the heart to put screws thru mine, so they're just being held up by the trim pieces on each end... at least they don't rattle! lol
Time to hustle... it's getting cold out!!!

That's the thing too, I didn't want to put screws through the trim like my brown wagon had. I was hooked up with a good set with no holes so I bought the clips

When I was looking for the garnish moulding clips, I couldn't believe what some gougers were asking for them. Geez...you would think they were gold plated.
The hatch glass clips were difficult to find, but all of a sudden they became more available. But the quarter window clips are a different story...they're like looking for a needle in a haystack. I was fortunate to find the amount I needed. Drilling holes and using finishing screws was not an option.

I'm glad my spare mouldings will come in handy.

Heck yeah, you guys have been instrumental in me getting the parts to finish this car up.
