So, you own both of the two Malibu wagons that exist among all the 5 million New Zealanders?!?

Yeah was a lucky score, the grey one tho is to far gone shes totally rusted out but has everything needed to get the good one on the road
Just need to fly to the States and bring an empty large suitcase ( or buy one here) for parts. Don’t laugh I’ve seen it done from guys going back to the UK! Otherwise they come over and buy a car/truck/van pack it full and ship it back. Cost of vehicle sale pays the shipping and taxes and parts are free of cost as they are “attached “ to the vehicle.

Finished 2 other projects here so now they're out of my way it's time for this, just going to plug away at her. Wasn't going to paint it but the paints really let go so it's going to have to be stripped back as well but i'll concentrate on the engine bay as in replacing what needs sorted in the front end. Por 15 the chassis rails & get the motor & trans in & get it running & get it as close as i can to road ready, i'll keep this updated as i go.
So let the fun begin....... 😉

All jacked up to start on this one, will stay like this until it’s a runner. Going through everything to see what all I’ve got, thought I bought new brake shoes & pads but haven’t yet. They’re cheap out of the Us and looks to be the only parts I haven’t got, going to be a big mish this one haha.
Paints really let go on this to so i'm going to have to rub her back, so i'd say this is going to go a lot further than 1st planned...

And there’s a start on the Malibu, pull the front end down completely. Replace balljoints & anything else that needs replaced then paint it up & put it back together, be a good bit of work in all this but way worth it. Just bought front & back brakes & rear fitting kit of Ebay so have to wait on those, be late January to sometime in Febuary before they get here
She’s 40 years old & I’m amazed how solid this old girl is, guess California was good for her......

Ground off the old hacked mounts that had been welded on for the Holden 304 & cleaned all that up, slowly start cleaning it all up and get it ready for paint. Degrease then pressure wash then get some wax and grease remover to make sure it’s clean then paint it. Trying out this crc evaporust to, be interesting to see how this goes. Better be good at $50 for 5 litres and there’s two containers in there at pres
🤔

Last pic is what were going to do paint wise on this, engine bay & get it running 1st then start stripping paint. So looking forward to that job Not haha...
