82 Malibu Wagon in New Zealand

What's stamped on the flat part of the block protruding from under the passenger side head?

I was thinking of something else, but came across this when looking for it

Well there’s a mega blow & one that will put the Chev running on hold for a while, brand new 3.5k trans stuffed. Had it in the carport covered & she must have sweated. Dought there will be anything salvageable in it, going to drop the engine in & keep setting it up. Will keep going with everything else i can on her & sought a trans when funds allow, lower control arm bushes have arrived so going to pick them up soon. Still waiting on the brakes but thats no biggy, so yeah not a good day but my own fault i should have fulled it with fluid. One expensive lesson learned😡😡

Worth a shot at getting it rebuilt? Not sure what cost of one direction or the other would be for you. Unless you got a buddy you can pull a favor from that can rebuild it on the cheap.

Done some research on it & might be able to save it, will pull the valve body down & clean all that up & check what everything else looks like. My fathers rebuilt many over the years so was talking to him last night & watching good old google to see what i'm in for, fingers crossed a good cleanup & service might sort it🤞

I think some of the guys on here might be able to point you in the right direction if you need help. Not sure might even be a tech thread on a TH350 rebuilding. Up here I can get a core for about $50 usd but shipping would be killer 😓

Should be ok fingers crossed, pulled it down & it hasn't got further up luckily. Got the valve body soaking in that crc evaporust, i'll clean the rest as best I can then chuck her in. I’ll drain it after running it for a bit then refill it., that’ll learn me it should have been in the garage not the carport....
Over here even for a rebuilder your looking at $800 to $1000 for these they're not cheap at all....

While you have the pan off braze a brass radiator drain bung or if you have a metal bung around put a drain in the back end of the pan. Makes draining it a whole lot easier!😏 couple of junkyard parts for an instant $50 savings!!
